Does anyone have any photos of the 2009 race? All I have are marked photos sfrom another site and they are not very good. I was hoping to see myself.

Hi Marina, welcome to the forum!
![]() I do not know of any shots we have seen here of the race, but it is a good bet somebody will know. Can you post (just in text with the http written like hxxt) a link to the watermarked shots? its a pretty rare event.

I see Stevin has thanked you for the link, perhaps the post worked for him! Hopefully, our resident expert on events like this (klondike) will see this post soon and be able to offer you some help.

Here's a zip of the photos. Small pics unfortunately, but pretty good content. We've been looking for decent pics of this event for a while so these will do nicely.
A couple thoughts: 1. These photos tell us that clearly this event is not entirely anti-photographer, so maybe Klondike might want to shoot this next year? 2. Marina, I'm guessing you read Chinese. Can you give us any more info about the source of these pics? Were they posted on that board by the photographer him/herself or were they reposted from another source? Any of that information might help us track down more pics. ***** RAR OF WATERMARKED PICS REMOVED ***** Last edited by Fango; 09-26-2010 at 10:43 PM. |

These photos are by the photographer. He had a camera and a clip board. He asked people to sign a waiver for publication. Another photographer posted better photos but they have since "disappeared." The chinese writing on this (and other news sites) tells the story of how the chinese people did. Second place in the women's category went to a half-chinese woman. I wish I could find the work of the other photographers. Aunt Watermelon gave out the prizes.

There are a few different photos that appear to be by the same photographer, scattered across several chinese-language news sites. Unfortunately, these are censored.
Some of our uncensored pics also appear on these sites in censored form, with completely different watermarks. What I mean by this is that the photographer's own watermark is gone, and the news sites have added their own. So unfortunately it doesn't look like they're taking publicly available uncensored pics and censoring them, which would give us some hope of finding the uncensored pics. Since Marina told us the photographer posted the uncensored photos himself, my guess is that these are the only uncensored pics from his collection available. The photographer himself appears to be a chinese-american or chinese ex-pat, and I'm guessing he submitted the censored photos to the chinese news sites himself. Still, I'll keep mining for uncensored pics, but I don't hold out too much hope. Oh, and here's a zip of the censored pics. Some of these are great pics I'd love to seen uncensored. ***** RAR OF WATERMARKED PICS REMOVED ***** Last edited by Fango; 09-26-2010 at 10:43 PM. |

Thanks for the .rar flanker, what a great event!
It is a shame that we here in Spain do not organise an event like this. I know one exists in the north, but we have the beaches AND the weather! Marina, if you have the time, it would be great to know a bit more about the event and what it is like to be part of! It seems that the organisers have even got in trade stalls and refreshments. The runners seem to be mixed sex, which might be a bit unfair or are there just different classes within the same run.

The event is great. A mass of skin takes off on cue. It is naked madness. It is mostly male (like most nude events) but there are many females too. Prizes are awarded in many age/gender categories. This year it rained but it was still a good time. The textile spectators didn't stand out as most people were clothed due to the weather. 2009 was warm and sunny and most of the spectators were nude. The beach is a great place; full of life. The venders are there everyday. It's like a city within a city with a culture of its own. Love it. And yes, the run is, I think, the only time where cameras are in the open. Except, of course, for Wreck Beach Day (and the skinny dipping world record attempts) when hundreds pose for a group shot.
--------- The photographer is freelance and, I believe, he sells photographs to chinese language websites and newspapers; In Canada and Hongong. I gather he is Canadian but I never spoke with him. There are other non-censored photos of 2009 and other years including ones taken at the finish line. Watermelon is a local celebrity and she was very good at motivating the runners. |
