I have in countered a Rapidshare Phishing scheme that is growing in popularity, it has yet to appear on OCC (but then again this forum well moderated and maintained) but I have ran into it every where else I get Rapid links etc.. If you go to download a Rapidshare link and you are redirected to log into your Premium account DO NOT DO IT. Before this method become popular I got phished for my Rapidshare points (which were returned by Rapidshare.)
If you look closely you will see that these scammer links do not go directly to Rapidshare but to a fake site ( http://h1.[censored].com/scalp ) which is set up to look identical to Rapidshare.com. You will be asked to enter your Rapidshare username and password into the fake site before being redirected to the real Rapidshare page so that you don't realize that anything is wrong. If this happens the scammer will have your login details and therefore will have complete access to your Premium Account. This means that they can change your password and steal your account or even use up any RS points that you may have. People also use Linkbucks to cloke the site so this also holds true with link protectors. |
