But doesn't RapidShare only allow you a very limited availability of downloaded files if you're a free user?
Isn't there some sort of free, third-party, non-profit video upload site that doesn't charge for up/downloads? (e.g. PutFile, PaintedOver, etc. . . although granted they're not pr0n-friendly sites, but you do see my point.) Or am I missing something here? Profit margins are what you are missing. There is no such site because 1) bandwidth costs money and 2) file hosting is a business. Internet Add dollars are not going as far as people may have initially perdicted, and sites rarely produce enough traffic to maintain themselves with add dollars only (this is why OCC is not free even though it has strong traffic.) Furthermore, many of the add dollars come at the price of your site traffic; if a site is riddled with adds and pop-ups less people go to that site consistently, which in turn reduces the value of the add space being sold. So of course there is no free file hosting, it is a forced issue---if you want good download speeds and consistency you have to pay, or go back to P2P or bit torrents. Tis the nature of the beast my friend.
