not all cats hate water. big cats will routinely jump in after something. housecats, generally, aren't fans, but i've had several that will get in a bathtub and just chill...

i think most domestic cats don't like water bc they have to go through and dry their fur, clean it out, etc, and it's just a lot of work. Plus, it messes up their natural oil balance/etc.
