So the Mrs. and I had to cancel our January trip to DRM due to the current situation; it was to be our first trip to a Desire resort and we were pretty excited just to escape the neverending snow of the PNW. Consequently, we ended up scheduling another trip to a c/o place in Arizona for next month...but still wanted to get down to a Desire resort sometime this year. Well, Desire has been running some amazing deals (compared to what we originally booked/paid for) and we had to pull the trigger on a trip in September. Six nights, airfare (albeit cattlecar), all-inclusive and two free massages for $2K. No, I'm not a shill for them, just really HAPPY about that deal (our January trip was well north of that).

Anyway, I know more than a couple of you around here are Desire/Hedo/Caliente/Dewey's type travelers, so I just wanted to start a thread asking for info/tips/stories about your visits to the Desire resorts. We've been reading the DesireMexico forum stuff and a bit on Reddit (I loathe Reddit), but I do respect the opinions and thoughts of you, my fellow pervs. So if you have anything to share about Pearl or RM, I'm all ears and totally appreciative.

Have been to Caliente. Very disappointing.
First. the action is only on the weekend, unless you already have friends and arrangements.
You have to rent a condo or mobile home for 2 nights, and it is pricey.
The disco is only open Friday and Saturday nights. Sexy dancing, but nothing more.
The pool are is very nice, but there is no action there except on rare occasions.
If you go, you will have to hook up with some other swingers who will invite you to the right house party where the fun will be.

That is our experience. Spent almost $1K and had no group fun.

Five years ago or so we were in the Tampa area and decided to go for a day visit to Caliente on a Friday. The grounds were pretty well kept and the pool was really nice, but as you say, the food sucked and they didn't allow outside alcohol to be brought in (they actually searched our bags). I guess I can see that for day visitors, but apparently that rule holds true for those who rent rooms; that seemed a bit over the top (especially considering how expensive everything is). The kicker though was that after the mandatory tour, we were required to meet with the time share/membership person. They just couldn't take "no" for an answer; we started out polite, but got pretty fed up with the hard sell and though it only wasted 15 minutes of our time, it left a pretty sour taste. Who in the hell in their right mind would sign any sort of real estate contract without even having been out on the grounds before? A real slimy "Glengarry, Glen Ross" situation.

Anyway, we didn't witness anything too outrageous while hanging out at the pool. It was a Friday on a long weekend, so there was some nice eye candy, but nothing anymore impressive than what we see at Desert Sun on a normal spring/fall weekend. It's too bad though, as we had kind of bit into the reputation that it was like a larger, more upscale (ie, "cleaner") version of SMI. I'm going to be in Orlando next month by myself, so I might just spend a few days taking day visits to the regular nudist resorts/clubs around the Tampa area. I'd really love to get down to Miami and see Haulover (never been), but it's a midweek visit situation and I don't want to be part of the sausage fest.

Paradise Lakes isn't far away and kind of has the same reputation: nudist resort first, but there are undertones of extra activity. Right next door to Paradise Lakes is Lake Como. We've been there and it seems to be nudist only. If you are going to be in Orlando and just want to go to regular nudist resorts, go to Cypress Cove. It's in Kissimmee and it is pretty big. We've been there lots, and its nudist only.

Thanks to Covid, I have a bunch of airline credits and decided to book an extra four days in Florida. It'll be a Wed-Sun situation, and I most definitely want to get down to Miami for Friday and Saturday at Haulover; I doubt I'll have the opportunity again to see that beach anytime soon. That said, now I have Wednesday and Thursday to fill. I was thinking about doing Wednesday night at Cypress (as it's right there in Orlando/Kissimmee), then maybe driving out to Playlinda or Apollo on Thursday. Any opinions on which beach is better? I know it'll be mid-week, so not busy per se...but it might be my one opportunity to visit those beaches too.
