Question Remember my "nudist neighbor"?

Sadly, I have lost touch with her but I know she had experienced some serious health difficulties.

Even more sadly, I returned all my photos to her, as she requested, but I had many saved on my computer....which recently suddenly crashed and my hard drive is not repairable, according to the Geek Squad.

A lesson to be learned: back up important photos and stories at least twice.

Anyone got any idea how I can find any of her photos?

Did you post those pictures here on OCC? If yes, then go to your personal profile page, click on "Show all statistics", then find all your 526 posts under your profile picture.

Love your profile pic, Quasi. Great shot. Any chance of a full-size version?

Geek Squad are easily the worst computer techs in the world... they don't even hire from the bottom of the barrel, they hire what is living in the dirt underneath the barrel. Everything a Geek Squad member says should be taken with a shaker or four of salt.

Most of the brand name hard drive manufacturers these days have data recovery services... if you have stuff you really want to get back, and are willing to spend the money on the service. Ideally, you would not want to have anything of an illegal nature on your hard drive if you decided to try such a service.

FYI...

Unhappy No luck...

Thank you Quasimoto but I just finished going through my postings---all 560 of them---as you suggested. All this is my fault. Linda, the "nudist neighbor", knew I was telling about her with photos in an ongoing post on the internet. She was ok as long as her face was never shown. She also would not let me post any hard-core or with others with her--she was afraid she would expose friends.

When she asked for all the photos returned, along with the memory cards, she also asked that I take down her thread on the internet. I asked OCC and they did it right away. I missed it and telling about her, but she was back in Europe and we seldom spoke. I had my copy of the stories from OCC and copies of my favorite photos without the face blocked out all on the now broken computer hard drive. I have taken it 3 places and all say it cannot be recovered unless through some government agency who has extreme capabilities. Got any ideas on how recovering photos of friends can be a security issue?

Being lazy, I was just hoping one of my OCC friends and a Linda admirer would just say "don't worry, here is a copy of the entire thread".

Nuts. Guys, there is a lesson to be learned here. Just as many sites are gone, we all need to be careful to keep what we REALLY want, and to support OCC to keep it around as long as possible.

This is true. I had a hard drive arm mechanical motion sensor die on me once at work and the tech guy fixed it by buying an identical drive from ebay and swapping out the actual drives. Though he did work for 'a government' data mining organization before he came to us.
