[ENF] Short story I heard on the train...

This didn't happen to me or to anyone I know but when I overheard a conversation on my way to work today I just felt I had to share it here. I walk to the train station in the mornings and catch a train for a little over ten minutes, just into the neighbouring city, before catching a bus to my final destination (which is still better than facing the morning rush hour in a car). The train journey is shared, as you might expect, with all manner of people, but on the train I catch there are a lot of people on their way to school; this is a story I overheard one of them telling a boy I presume to be her boyfriend, as closely as I can remember it (yes, she did say 'like' a lot)...

"I was so embarrassed in PE the other day!"

"I heard something about you streaking from Georgie"

"I wasn't streaking! Basically we were playing netball and we were all really tired and me and some of the other girls had an argument over stupid stuff. I went in the shower after everyone else 'cause I was helping put stuff away and I was just, like, relaxing. Then when I turned the shower off I saw they'd stolen my towel and my clothes weren't anywhere. I was like, 'what the hell to I do now'. I like peered round the corner and I was like [stage whisper] 'Miss Phillips!' [/stage whisper], really quietly but she couldn't hear me. So I just had to cover up with my hands and run for it. I was in the office door talking to her with everyone laughing and was just like 'someone stole my clothes'. So she went looking and I just had to sit behind the door while I waited for some stuff from lost property."

"Did you get your clothes back?"

"Yeah, they were just outside in the hall, but the worst bit was, you know how the PE teachers share an office in between the changing rooms? Mr Green came in and was just like 'oh sorry, I'll leave you to it' and left."

"That sounds pretty bad."

"I know! I can't believe Mr Green saw me naked!"

This conversation did continue but I missed the rest as the train pulled in and we went in different directions. It almost makes me miss school. If anyone else has any stories like this, either experienced or, like me, just heard about, I'd love to hear them. Incidentally from what I saw of her the girl in question was a tall and slim brunette with roughly B/C cup breasts.

For a few years we lived in a small town of 2500 that was served by a small independent phone company, until the 80's they had a lot of these all over the country. When we moved there from a big city one of the neighbors warned us, 'don't say anything over the phione you don't want everyone to know.' Crossed connections were common.

So one night my pager goes off, that means call the office, possible emergency. I picked up the phone and got in the middle of a conversation. It didn't take me long to realize it was 2 people, both married, having an affair. I don't know how long they had been on the phone, but they had gotten to the good stuff.

F: I can't believe you said that with my husband right there, he's not that dumb (giggling)
M: I was just trying to figure out how to get you alone.
F: You'll just have to wait until Thursday when he goes on nights.
M: I've been dreaming about your tits.
F: Dream all you want until Thursday (giggling)


This went on but I had to call the office, I could do it from the radio in my car and I hated to hang this up, my wife knows a lot more people in town so I thought maybe she would recognize the voices, but she was already sleeping. So I went to the car, used the radio and found out it wasn't anything important, then picked the phone back up, now they were in full phone sex mode full of "I'm so wet" and "stroke it for me", it was funnier than sexy. I finally just hung up.

In HS, a group of people went to Japan on some sort of school trip. They went to rural Japan where they didn't realize there would be communal bathing (separated by gender, of course).

My friend told me a story about the communal bathing there. She was a small, athletic, and slender American girl.

She said her group was real nervous about it at first. The first time was embarrassing, but they eventually got over it after the first few times (except for one modest girl, who would only visit the bath house at odd times of the night). Over time they became comfortable and would goof around in the bathing area.

One time, as my friend was changing, a group of new American girls walked into the changing room. Apparently, they didn't know how these communal baths worked so when they saw my friend naked, they all gasped and covered their eyes, apologizing profusely for walking in on her. At this point, my friend was comfortable with the nudity and she told me she confronted them, arms akimbo at her sides, giving a full-frontal view. Apparently, this made the new girls even more hysterical. She told them that they would have to do the same thing, since this was how Japanese public bathing worked. My friend told me the look on their faces was priceless. She never told me what happened after, but I imagine that the whole group of newbies would have had to change and bathe in front of each other for the first time.

Hello Qaswox27,

I find your story rather surprising, our schools have communal showers (separate male and female of course) so after sports everyone strips off and showers. This is true of other facilities like sports clubs and spas.
One year my wife and I went to a spa in Amsterdam and the changing room there was mixed sex, of course why have separate rooms when the spa was nude anyway; Britain, unfortunately is not quite as relaxed.

By the way, I had to think what HS stood for, I presume 'high school'; not a term used outside of America I think?

@piecenick: As someone who was born in the eighties I'd have to say 'Senior Member' is definitely the right title for you after reading your story. I don't think I've heard of crossed wires in the original telephone context outside of old black and white films! Your story now makes me wish it was something that was still a possibility today, though I'm not sure I'd hear anything as juicy as you did; the internet and video phones have pretty much done away with phone sex these days - though I'm now imagining a 'crossed wires' situation with some video phone sex!

I'd always thought, based on TV, film and other media, that American schools had communal (single sex) changing rooms and showers. Is that not actually the case or does it depend on the school? Perhaps the embarrassment was due to the fact it was bathing, rather than showering, which seems more intimate to western culture?

@imbiable: As a fellow Brit I experienced the same set up as you did in school. The only difference was that in my school the most anyone did was shower off the worst of any mud they might have on them and then shower properly at home; I understand from talking to the girls that it was the same for them. This was more because we were left very little time in which to change and get to our next lesson than anything else - there just wasn't enough time to shower!

Yes, I meant high school. American schools have communal changing rooms and showers, but people don't get naked in them anymore. They may have in the olden days, but modesty is bigger now. Students are never naked in school and I think it might even be illegal to require them to be.

In the story, the embarrassment comes from having to expose their bodies. It's not normal for this generation of Americans. Even in college, I see people showering in their bathing suits at the gym.

Almost no US Schools have that sort of bathing setup - remember, you all gave us your uptight Puritans to found our country! Coed facilities are a taboo here and no one would think of trying to set those up for teenagers. FAR too many problems would occur, because of our messed-up body images and shames.

I guess the Hollywood portrayal of American high schools hasn't quite caught up with the reality; I suppose most writers/directors/producers are a little older and are basing things off there own experiences. Of course it's also the case that TV and movies are a lot more conservative than they used to be 'back in the day', in the world as a whole but particularly the US and Britain, so we're actually a lot less likely to see a shower scene (however tame) on which to judge these things. Thanks for the info.!

Incidentally xxxxenophile, I wasn't suggesting coed facilities. I think we all know that's not likely to ever happen without a radical shift in thinking. It would be funny though, if they suddenly made a law requiring people to have coed changing and showers - just imagine that first lesson.

One of the universities I attended had three changing rooms in its sports hall: 2 for guys and 1 for girls. (I guess more guys did sports). The guys changing rooms had communal showers whilst the girls room had showers in cubicles.

At one point though, around the year 2000, the girls' changing room was shut for a month or so (I presume for renovations) and one of the two guys' rooms became the girls'. It was well signposted so unfortunately I don't think we had any "accidentally walking in" stories.

However, several girls expressed discontent to the students' union that they now had to shower in front of their friends/team-mates.

However, my then-girlfriend (who was a bit bi-curious) didn't mind it at all. :-)

An ex of mine was bisexual and belonged to an athletics club where the girls showers had cubicles arranged around a rectangular room but they had no fronts. She used to enjoy going in there a lot and often descibed it to me. None of the people there knew she was bi as the club was a little distance away from where we lived.

When she started going they nearly all showered in swimsuits but she liked exposing herself and found it a thrill to be the only one fully naked. As time went on a few, but not all of them followed her example and dumped the swimsuits.

I've some exhibitionist stories about her I'll post in other threads when I get the time
