Most picture posts have a smaller pic (thumbnail, although it's a damn big thumb) that you click to get the larger version of the picture. Occasionally, there are pictures in a post, but some are thumbnails and some are attached files. When the attached file is clicked, rather than opening the picture, you get a request to save the file. How does this happen, is there a difference between the file and the larger picture, what's going on? Just interested, not complaining.

All that means is the attached photo is actually smaller than our forum's standard thumbnail size. Therefor it would be pointless for us to create a thumbnail for it.

You mean there are actually coders out there that have some contact with the outside world, and do things the right way? What a revelation!
