Thanks for the feedback everyone. Please keep it coming.

We appreciate hearing about your success or any potential problems with this new advanced version of the Attachment Manager so we can continue to make improvements.

I think member's who often post large files will benefit from this the most.

Try it out and keep posting.

Thanks,

We've done extensive testing of it and now I'd like you all to try it out and give us your feedback.

The best new features include:
  • Select multiple files at once. Still limited to 10 attachments per post
  • Live upload statistics so you can view the progress of your uploads.

If the feedback we get is positive, we'll make this a permanent option for uploading your files.
If people are having trouble with the advanced Attachment Manager, the basic Attachment Manager is still available.

To try out the new version, Just look for the button that says:
Attachment Manager [Advanced version]

Please let us know what you think.

Thanks,
Thanks great upgrade

Once again, thanks for all the feedback. We want to here it all. Good, bad or indifferent. It all helps.

If the response to this new advanced Attachment Manager is positive overall, I'm pleased to announce that an updated version of the photo album uploader is also in the works. Just imagine being able to select up to 200 photos at one time to upload into an album. It would sure beat selecting them one at a time.

Thanks,

only issue I am having is that each time I browse for the pics, the uploader opens up to an old folder and not the last one I used to upload, though that may be my browsers fault. I love the new uploader, it makes things a lot easier and faster, hope I dont run out of pics to post. Only thing left to do is add a drag and drop uploader, then its all over....

hi alex.

the good: it seems to work without a hitch (i will try it more extensively this weekend). the downside to flash would be a future requirement to upgrade, which i would not be able to do as i am on an old laptop/os.

the bad: the old interface works best for batch uploading images which are not in sequence. (eg. 01.jpg followed by 05.jpg, 03.jpg, etc.) i tend to do this a lot and would be sad to see the feature go.

in any case, great work so far!

The new uploader also seems to upload faster (although maybe that's just that I don't have to guess how long something's taking to load up anymore).

This is INCREDIBLY helpful, though; it cuts the time it take to make a post way, way down. I'm not sure what other people's "systems" are for organizing and posting, so I can only speak for myself, but this is a really good addition.

One thing: the heading in my browser tab still calls it the "basic" version even though I'm using the advanced. This isn't really a problem, but from an organizational standpoint it might be confusing for someone, I guess.

Either way, really nice work with this!

I agree with you! It seems/feels faster...
So far I didn't find anything negative with the new uploader.

Good job OCC!!!

We have no plans to get rid of the orignal (basic) Attachment Manager because we understand many people may still use it if their system isn't compatible with the advanced version. We plan on keeping both so the choice is up to each individual member which version they prefer.

Thanks for pointing that out. We have corrected the text now.

Thanks,

Having used both I will probably stick with the basic for most of my needs, but I can appreciate how a lot of people will like the newer one.

I haven't really noticed if there is a speed difference or not, although since I have a 100mb+ connection I am probably not really going to notice a huge difference.

The reason I will probably stick with the older version is due to having to drill through my file structure to find what I am posting.

I tend to open the basic file up loader, but not use its browse button. I then open up my file manager, go to the files I want and highlight all of them. I then drag that over to the basic up loader and it uploads all 10 in one go. I do not seem to be able to drag and drop with the new up loader, so it is actually slightly slower for me than the basic one.

Having said that, keep up the good work guys. It is always good to see sites investing time and effort on improvements.
