one other note - apparently the BOdy Pride Ride is both separate and mixed with the Seattle Pride parade. By that I mean they ride alone, by themselves, for a distance of about 5.0 miles before joining the Pride parade. They start with body painting around 8Am, then ride from a location east of I-5. Around 11Am or so they hook up with the Pride parade, and the route map shows them riding all the way to the Seattle Center Fountain.

Well, its official - I am going to attempt to cover the Seattle Dyke March tonight and the Pride parade tomorrow. I am going to brave gloom and rain, and hope for a sun break tomorrow afternoon. The forecast is not good, but hey, its been worse...
For the life of me, I don't know why ANYTHING outdoors in the NW is scheduled in June. June is the WORST month psychologically when it comes to weather. Thats because it can be great, and you HOPE it will be great, but year after year, those parades and parties get gloomed over or washed out. 59F. Marine clouds. Drizzle. And its going on again right now... Anyway, Dyke Marches typically precede Pride Parades by a day. Usually they are on Saturday with the Pride parade held the next day, Sunday. Dyke Marches are a low budget, informal affair, and the one in Portland last weekend was just a bunch of girls walking down the street. I imagine that the Dyke March was just someone's idea to give the girls a little time on the street by themselves - I mean, dykes will also march tomorrow, but the Pride Parade is a much bigger, more organized event. People will be dressed up. There are awards and prizes. But the bottom line here I guess is the nudity. Some Dyke March chicks will be topless, I know that. Also, some will be topless in the Pride Parade. If you had to chose one to cover, which would you chose? Well, I'll have a better sense for that after tomorrow afternoon - stay tuned. Oh, and a few pics from Seattle's Dyke March wish me luck and some sun from about 1-3PM tomorrow Klondike Last edited by Klondike; 06-23-2012 at 12:29 PM. |

Hi guys - I'm back from Seattle and I had a good time although there weren't many photo-ops unfortunately. Here's a brief report:
Saturday Dyke March: This took place about four blocks north of the Seattle U campus which holds the annual Quadstreak. It was interesting for me to find myself in almost the exactly location in Seattle, and also interesting because I had read somewhere a description of Seattle U girls as being sort of feminist and dominating. Well, the whole area is sort of the gay/lesbian heart of Seattle. Anyway, the local Dyke March was held at 7PM following two hours of feminist preaching and feminist music at a local park. And no feminist boobs..... And then, the March took place, and once again, no nudity occurred whatsoever. I was mildly peeved, in part because of the pics I had googled up (and posted above) just a week ago. As Dyke Marches go then, all I can say is that Portland's a week earlier was better ![]() Seattle Pride: this being my first ever Seattle Pride parade, I was unsure as to where I needed to be. So I played a middle of the road strategy and stood at the end of the parade where I assumed I would catch all the participants as they came into the Seattle Center. Well, I didn't catch the Body Pride Ride. For some reason, they did not come up 2nd Ave to get to the fountain even though on their website, this was shown as their route. Once again, I was peeved. As Crispus's photo above shows, there was full nudity among the BP riders. But when I finally did get to see the remnants of the Body Pride Ride contingent at the Seattle Fountain, all I could scrounge was two topless women (and two well known women to boot, yes - Crispus's girl was one of them). So I really did quite poorly here. And as for other toplessness or nudity to be found at the parade, I was only able to eek out about 4 other topless/pasties women. In other words, there really wasn't much toplessness in the parade itself unless they covered up before they got to the Seattle Center, which is entirely possible... So, would I do this again next year? Not sure. I would need to have better info about the BP riders and be better positioned and prepared. PLus I want to see OTHER people's pics form this year... ![]() Some pics to follow... KLondike |

OK, well I'm posting a grand total of 6 pics. Not exactly a Fremont experience...
![]() Anyway, the girls in the first three pics are well known Fremont girls. I joked about whether girl no 1 would join the BP ride this year as her brother was photographed in last years ride. And guess what - she did! I chuckled to myself when I saw her, but later wondered if I missed her fully nude. Probably did - lets be on the lookout for fully nude pics of her! And the second girl is one we all know from area events.. The last three - just some pasties paraders.. BTW - I could post a few more pics, especially of BP rider no 2. Let me know if you care, because otherwise, this is going to be it... And an ending note - I wasn't sure how much parade nudity would translate into nudity at the after-parade party in the Seattle Center. I mean, the party went on until 6pm. With nudity there, you could take your time covering it. But it turns out its sort of like the Solstice celebration party in Gasworks park after the Fremont Parade - some nudity lingers on into the party, but much, maybe most of it doesn't. So yeah, if you want to catch as much nudity as possible, photograph the parade itself, don't just wait until its over and then hope nudes will linger at the party after. A few did here, but I really don't know what I missed in the parade itself... Klondike Last edited by Klondike; 06-26-2012 at 04:56 PM. |

scrounged a few pics from Flickr. The first one partially answers one of my questions: did any girls go the full monty in the fountain after the parade as in previous years? Looks like maybe no - just topless only....
the girl in the next two pics I saw briefly at the after-party, but wasn't able to get a shot off. Klondike |
