Frequent Poster Rewards Program

I've been around this site for quite awhile, even way back when the video section was free (ahhh.....the good old days, if only I would have posted something and grandfathered myself in ). I recently started really trying to contribute to the site, but it sometimes seems like there is no incentive for me to do so. The problem is easily discovered by a simple browse of the members list. Probably 99% of the members have never posted on this forum and never will. If we could somehow convert maybe 5 or 10 percent of those non-posters into posters then this forum would be (at least in my humble opinion) a much more successful forum.

Here's my plan to do so, which mimicks some other forums (the name's of which I will not mention). Create something like a virtual cash incentive plan for posts, like maybe $ .25 per picture posted and maybe $.05 for a simple response such as "nice post". Then non-video members (like me) could spend the virtual cash that they have accumalated in exchange for a select few videos from the video section. Oh well, there's my ramblings for the night.

Yeah, but the problem with that would be that we'd get flooded with endless "nice post!!!"s and pictures that everyone has seen before. I think a reward system like that would weaken the OCC forum more than it would strengthen it.

However, it could be possible for the mods to select certain individuals who post frequent and QUALITY photos. But it would have to be a very rare thing.

Thanks for the suggestion CajunAssassin. We have looked into this in the past. The biggest problem is that the forum would get flooded with posts of lesser quality just so people could get "credit" for posting.

When we made the difficult decision to start charging for the video forums, we gave people an opportunity to post to get free access. This turned into a nightmare and overall quality and number of reposts was horrible. Many of you may remember those crazy weeks.....

We may consider new ideas in the future, but an automated post for credits system just won't work here and I don't want to start something new that would give me and the other moderators a huge new workload.

People should post for the enjoyment of sharing. We already have a very good volume of top quality material. I wouldn't want to do anything to upset the balance or lessen the overall quality of posts.

Don't know how old post is......yes there it would be nice to have more people post, because the site always benefits from quality material being posted.

I personally post because it is good to share.....A lot of content out there can be restricted due to paying sites or sites like Flickr that enjoy a certain prestige amongst it's members which then becomes exclusive.

Getting this content down to the ground floor for all to enjoy without cost is my mission !!!

Well, if you had shared a few traits with your archnemesis, you would have noticed the date on the post saying that it is almost 6 years old...
