I have to agree with you a 100% there, Pedro. Seems some of those guys are acting like paparazzi's in their own right. (making rude comments and such) I think you have to draw the line somewhere. don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with taking pics of naked ladies at these events in my opinion. Just don't stalk them too much.

These people (a lot of them moslem men, it has to be said, sorry, an observation of rides, not a racial sterotype in any way) do not give an inch in their attempts to get close up shots, see my photo post of yesterday.

If what is happening on my favorite nude beach happens to the London WNBR, it could wind up with no young women at all.

We've got a problem with brave gangs of eight or ten young "Muslim appearing" men who think of themselves as "Real Men" yet they are only brave enough to strip to below the knee "shorts" and tee shirts, and only come in large groups of fellow thugs.

They then bravely surround young nude women who are there in pairs or alone and bully them. It's got to be a frightening experience for the young women and they don't return to the beach. Some great older women try to seek out the younger ones and invite them to join larger more protective groups of older folk on the beach, especially on their first visits.

One woman even flies a flag that lets these young and attractive women know where to go for protection. But, these young lovelies go to the beach for a no-lines tan, and to enjoy themselves, not to feel threatened. The nude natives are getting restless and one of these days there will be a major incident, involving these gangs, and/or unwanted photographers in general. Somebody is going to get seriously hurt. Thankfully, the beach police are top notch and respond quickly and in numbers to cell phone calls when there is a problem.

This is NOT an anti-religious, or racist comment. Just an observation of reality. I have Muslim friends, and there are Muslim women I know that I really care about. But some of these guys are brought up to think of women as some kind of inferior human beings who can be bullied and exploited at will, and forget they are living in the West where women are very valued equals.

I hope whomever organizes the WNBR London doesn't let it be ruined by these thugs. Its a problem that can be fixed, before any more potential female riders are frightened away and the whole great idea fizzles.

This topic brought to mind probably the most moving photograph I have even seen come out of a WNBR event. It's NOT from this year, but it's significance is worth appreciating.

May God Bless This Brave and Beautiful Muslim Woman who rode in Madrid a few years ago, she has no idea of how significant a statement she made for all her fellow Muslim women made to wear Burqas, the world can see they are real women, and not servile creatures who should be hidden from view and abused.........

One very brave explanation. Only one thing I'd like to brush up here is that a good number of these opportunistic snappers, cameramen, etc happen to be Asian men (Arab, Indian, Pakistani, bangladeshi, Sri lankan etc) who pretty much have a distorted view of the WNBR event itself. This is NOT a nudist show, neither is it a public pron event! My cousin and his girlfriend (who were there in London 2010, but not this year) told me some time back they overheard a group of such blokes making very loud sexist and derogatory comments about British women's bodies, etc.

But rest assured, I've got South Asian & Arab friends who are not of the sort, having myself lived in London for a good ten years. It's only sad that these people (luckily a minority) just pop up there just like that... Btw, naked Indian and Arab men(I think) have participated. I wish to see their women follow suit. That would be so lovely.

I would also like to add that at Brighton, we try to keep the snappers away from the bodypainting area, as people feel more exposed there. These guys (pretty much 100% UK born I would say) seem to treat as some kind of 'ritual' of bravado to get as many close up shots as possible.


When asked to respect the people they are snapping (often just a matter of asking for a photo, I know I do it myself), they usually respond about it being a 'free country' or a 'public space' and they can do as they want!

I 100% agree that to take photos is OK (I have to be careful now) but it is the manner in which they crowd (London seems much worse) the girls, who they seem to think of as a bit of an 'easy' type of girl (I would say the opposite is in fact true) that is there for the purpose of proving how much a man they are!

Some right wing Christian and Muslim groups (together, see what it takes to unite these two odd bedfellows!!!) tried very hard (including a public petition) to get a new ride stopped in the UK, I find it ironic that when a ride happens, some of these people are seemingly at the front of the queue for getting some photos!

I know of only one female rider (the cat/blue/tiger lady of Southampton in 2008,2010 and 2011)) who I know is from a muslim country, but have seen quite a few from south asia (Indian origin), both male and female naked riders, but I assume they are of hindu origins.

I'd suggest that these women film these thugs with camcorders a/o camera phones - ideally, the better/more high-res the better - in the act of harassing them. Thugs don't like being photographed while in the act. That might cause them to scatter. Once filmed, the women could take the video to the police. Even if people aren't keen on nude beaches, they'd likely be more upset at young men going out of their way to disturb the women on the beach. If they had clear video of the men who were harassing, the police could identify them, pay 'em a visit and charge them criminally. They could put the video on youtube, etc. That would gain sympathy from the public, and public opinion might then lean harder on the men to stop.
