Hi all,
A couple of things might be of interest to some concerning Wreck Beach in Vancouver, BC. First off, tomorrow is the bare buns fun run. A few years back, I attended this and it was great. After the race, there were awards, food and official photos. A small but quality group of young women participated. Also, next weekend (Jul 11th) I have heard that an attempt is going to be made at WReck to break the record for the most people ever to "skinny dip" at one time. This is for the Guiness Book of World Records. I do not know what the current record is, but it would be very useful to know. I mean, it would make a huge difference if the record is 800 as opposed to 80. Anyway, also, to participate, I believe one has to be fully nude. And now - how do you think this is going to be documented? Wouldn't you need a photographer on hand perhaps, or an official from Guiness? Anyway, I wish I could attend but can't. Depending on the time of day they are going to attempt this, there could be a thousand out there, fully nude, skinny dipping all at once. And how many babes might go the full monty just to help break the record? Wouldn't you love to show up and help out too - it might almost be like being in a Spencer Tunick shoot. But I do hope I have my info right, and it would be good to get some verification on all this before heading up to BC. But getting back to the photography - ordinarily, photos are not permitted at Wreck. But at both of these events I mentioned, there may be official photogs. I know there will be at the run. And if there are official photogs, then possibly there will be pics on the net or opportunities to sneak a few yourself (but you could be told to put your camera away too. Still, it might be worth a try). So that is why the heads up - Wreck is fun enough as it is without these types of events. Throw them in and you are going to have a whale of a time. And ordinarily, I don't encourage anyone to go there and take pics, but this is a little different - occasionally Wreckers do things that they actually WANT preserved for posterity. cheers, Klondike |

here is the blurb from the Wreck official site concerning the Skinny dipping record attempt:
"Sat. July 11th - Guinness Book of World Records being attempted for the largest simultaneous skinnydip in North America at noon. We are having it officially witnessed. People need to come by 10 a.m. to ensure they have signed up before they go in the water right at noon for our official photograph and for the official witnesses to verify. The two official witnesses must sign off on each of our sign up sheets." I was unable to find out what the current skinny dip record is by going to the Guinness site. But at noon on a Saturday at Wreck, it is unlikely that they could scrounge more than a couple hundred people for this. Most people don't arrive until after 1PM. Klondike |

Did some searching and it looks like the American Association for Nude Recreation is working towards getting their members to do it.
http://aanr.com/skinny-dip.html And here are the local resorts that will be participating. http://www.ntsn.org/node/56 Should be a lot of fun. I was thinking it was going to be one mass skinnydip, but it appears that the group is trying to get a number of nudists at different locations to do it. |

It might be worth spending a little time surfing for them. Thats something I haven't really done. You could start by going to Wreck's official site and reading about the race while picking up any keywords or clues that might aid in further searching. klondike |
