While on active duty...you are never "after work". You are either on duty or off duty, but still subject to haveing your actions "regulated". This type of activity falls into what is "proper" and what is not "proper" for an actively serving member of the military can and can not do or say. For instance, if this MP was off duty and participated in an event (re: political statement) that a member of the "public" disagreed with, then there would be a rally cry for the "military" to do something. Further, a lot of the "public" would agree that 24 hours a day a servicemeber "represents" the military.
However, (especially since I have been depolyed to "combat zones" and "pacified areas") I think that what these soldiers did was not so outrageous. Now if they had been holding public orgies.......... |

It's harmless and blown out of proportion. To get demoted for it is sad, mainly a show of force so that the military is seen doing something. America's prudishness is getting out of control. The geriatric Superbowl halftime show was a knee jerk reaction to last year's events. Free Speech is starting to look like a wistful memory.
