To Rocketman:
I think the answer to your question is, anything but Photoshop is a pale substitute. I used to use Paintshop Pro years ago and imagine it's still good for most uses.
You might be able to do what you need with IrfanView (free) or ACDSee (still a favorite). They're mostly for viewing, but do some basic RESIZE, CUT/PASTE, TEXT, BRIGHTEN type functions.
I wrote a macro for Photoshop so that if I have an image up, I can simply COPY an image from anywhere, hit one button and make the canvas double wide and paste in the new image to the right of the old one.

I think (if I remember correctly) the first time I saw Jan was on Bangable.com (now defunct) maybe 3-5 years ago. I know I have your old pics, but I think they're on my backup DVDs. I collect so much stuff, I run out of space, even with 500gigs on this comp. so I have to archive! But I do have some of the old ones on here and your email address.

Photoshop is by far the best program.
Photoshop is also the program of choice for all the faker's out there.
With a little bit of effort you can make flawless transitions between pictures.
