Make sure you know what you're doing before you download stuff from anywhere on the net. Never input your info into anything without being 100% sure what it is.
The latest RS phishing scam I've run into is sites that appear to be RS, but are not. If you use your premium login on these sites, they will now have your user id and password. Here's some examples of what possible bad links can look like. 1. http://********.9hz.com// The *** can be almost anything. The 9hz is often a variant also. These are all related with freeweb7.com 2. http://rapldsharc.com/files/++++++++...doggystyle.wmv I've replaced the filenumber with plus symbols so it doesn't work above. Notice the word rapidshare is not spelled right. Both of these links can be hidden behind normal looking ones on some boards quite easily like this... http://rapidshare.com/files/2958798/...doggystyle.wmv But the link text does not match the actual link. You need to hover your mouse pointer over the link and in Firefox this will display the actual link at the base of your browser. I'm not sure if Internet Explorer has this feature but you can always "copy link location" on the right mouse button menu instead. |

Make sure you double check exactly what you click on, there's some really nasty people out there.
Try to run more than one Anti-virus and Ad-aware scanner, if one of them misses something the other should pick it up. Keep your software up to date, I update twice a week to be sure. I've been lucky, I download from all sorts of places and have yet to get anything truly nasty (runs around touching all the wood he can find cos he thinks he's just cursed himself). I thought I felt someone touching my wood and I was hoping it wasn't you.
