After posing nude for an art shoot and quite enjoying it, my girlfriend floated the idea of a nude calendar to some teammates. Some were surprisingly willing to at least consider it.

As people who have obviously seen quite a lot of calendars, does anyone have advice for someone potentially considering one? Either going into it, what makes a good/bad one etc

My number one piece of advice? Make the photos creative! I am frankly bored with the annual Australian vet calendars, which seem to be the only ones going these days. It's always the same poses, the same hats, the same environments, girls just covering with their hands, etc. It's hard to tell one year's calendar from another. My favorite calendars have always been the ones that have put the girls into creative poses and situations, with unique objects hiding the nudity. Search the thread for the "PruXdent StuXdent" calendars, which are my all-time top example of a great naked calendar. It may be difficult to search, since we always throw X's into the names of the calendars and universities. The BristXol RAG calendars are also great. I highly recommend seeking those out for examples as well. I would also take a look at the Fe-lix Centrefolds, which, while not a calendar, are along the same lines. The best calendars always have both an element of humor/playfulness and sexiness. Creativity is the key! I can see naked girls covering up anywhere. I can't see naked girls covering up in playful/funny/sexy ways, using creative objects and poses to hide their nudity, just anywhere. That's what naked calendars truly deliver when they are at their best.

My second piece of advice? Hidden Nudity, not (just) covered nudity. The difference being nudity obscured by objects (Hidden Nudity) vs. covering up with arms and hands (covered nudity). Some covered nudity is fine, and even inevitable, but it's the Hidden Nudity that makes these naked calendars fun. Girls standing behind objects placed in the foreground, girls holding objects in front of each other, girls holding objects in front of themselves, etc. The smaller and more teasing the objects, the better. The more daring and exposed the girls are willing to be, the better. Hiding behind large objects defeats the purpose; they might as well be dressed. We want to see as much of the girls' bodies as possible, as much as they are willing to show.

Speaking of which... My third piece of advice? If your girlfriend and her friends are willing... how 'bout some uncovered nudity? Frontal nudity, that is; uncovered rears are generally par for the course in these calendars. There have been some naked calendars that have gone the uncovered frontal nudity route over the years, and they are always fantastic, for obvious reasons. I guarantee that a calendar with uncovered nudity will sell more and get more attention than one without, again for obvious reasons. Something I've always wanted to see, but don't think I ever have, is a calendar that has Hidden Nudity pictures for the first 11 months, and then for December, a photo of the girls posing full frontally naked, uncovered, as a last month surprise. Something like that would be awesome, if the girls don't want to do the entire calendar uncovered. It would be the best of both worlds. But if they did want to do the entire calendar uncovered, I wouldn't complain.

Totally agree. The only thing that changes from one year to the next is the dogs featured in the photos... Maybe the veterinary students kill them while practising throughout the year???
That gives me an idea for the photographer... but it’s illegal...

I would add the suggestion of mixed calendars (boys and girls) where boys (covering by hands or hat) can see in all their glory some fully nude girls who are uncovered. You can't see the full frontal of the girls, only the rear or by side, but you know the boys of he photograph can see it.
