another report from my small local sauna here in Sweden. Mixed sauna only on one day a month, otherwise gender-segregated.

It's always a bit male dominated, plenty of single men who show up on that day. But also plenty of couples and many of them in the 18-30 range. There's a few family constellations and a few groups of friends, a few solo females, but I'd say it's mainly solo male visitors and couples.

A warning to anybody going to a hammam. Men will usually be soaped up by men only!
And it will be gender separated.

First time in this town of Karl**** in Germany to visit a friendly couple. Went with my friends to a historic spa in the city center, close to the train station.

In this place you can be naked or use your swimwear in the indoor pool. If you wish to wear it you have to cover up with a bathrobe or towel outside the pool.
In all other places, saunas and steam rooms of course and outdoor pools, you must use without swimwear. At the relaxation areas and sundeck you must always be naked or covered up so there is no visible swimwear, clearly stated by signs. Generally, nudity is enforced. A really nice nudist spa!

My stats on a Sunday afternoon:
Not extremely busy, but it is a bit normal for that time of the year, around 50-60 people at all times, 70% men, 99% nakedness overall (I have only seen a couple around 60yo wearing swimsuits). As people were coming and leaving, I’ve seen around let’s say 100 women in total. Less than 10 of them were younger than 30. Overall, average age >60.

Finally it was a rewarding Sunday afternoon, even though when I entered the spa I was really thinking it will be very boring. Next time visiting the town, will surely go for another place, because you can’t be always lucky.
