Interesting thread though I detect its more US oriented than European. My ex-wife was one of the first women to go bald at our resort. She was well aware of older women's negative feelings about it as being "scandalous." Whereas "back in the day" going bald was making a "statement", it is now "keeping the pubes" that is making a statement about non-conformity.
