PMs are something I only use on rare occasions, but I consider it a good option to have available, sometimes.

My question:
I've learned of one forum user who appears to have no settings available regarding 'Private Messaging' options (allow/dis-allow, for example) in his OCC Control Panel. What might be the reason for this state of affairs?

When a new member signs up for a free registration, they are not automatically given access to our private message system or able to post visitor messages. Once new members post a minimum of uploaded attachments with their posts they can gain greater access to use to use private messages and visitor messages. Alternatively, members that just want to be lurkers can gain full access by getting a One Click Pass.

The choice to limit new member's access messaging was necessary to prevent SPAMMERS from abusing our site and to protect legitimate members here.
