Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been enjoying these stories for years without courage to take any action of my own. I have a wife of 15 yrs, kids, we are mid 40s. A pretty good college buddy of mine lives about 30 minutes away and for the last year or so we have been making a point to hang out once every two weeks ago. THC is super legal here so we drive somewhere, get baked in public, go to a good restaurant for food and a few cocktails, and then walk around and do whatever. He has known my wife fairly well since we first started dating. The first time we hooked up happened to be in the bathroom of his apartment.

Anyway nobody wants to hear about my bromance, just background. Also worth noting is that my wife and I have a vanilla sex life, with some ups and downs, currently more downs.

Today my buddy and I were like a month overdue for our night out. We started with the usual super tame conversations about wives, kids, jobs, etc. As we had some cocktails etc the conversation started to move into a more interesting direction than usual. What started as generic complaining about our midlife sex lives sort of morphed into asking and answering very specific personal questions.

My friend was the first one to cross the line. We were talking about frequency of marital relations, and then he jumped into something like "well what is she like?" And so I started in with stuff I've never spoken to anybody about, about how my wife's impulsivity can be frustrating in normal life, but in the bedroom has occasionally been interesting. I gave specific examples. I then asked him about what sex with his wife is like. (I have also known her since they started dating many years ago). He seemed to really want to talk about it. Told me how she has a single orgasm that lasts forever, and when they are done she tells him whether it was level 1, 2, or 3. He told me that she has "outfits". He told me that she blows him to completion and then makes a gagging sound and runs naked to the bathroom to spit out his goo. (I have not been so blessed). I've never been a swinger or anything, so this low-key stuff is quite major for me.

To the subject at hand: As we are really opening up here I started to interject, "hey, there is something I want to ask you that you will find interesting." He didn't even hear me the first time, he was hyperfocused now talking about his wife. I said it again, "you really want to hear this one." I got his attention. "Well, does your wife let you take pictures of her?," I asked. "No", he replied. "Fucking goddamn it," said my inner monolog. I continued, "Well mine does." He just sort of smirked and said "awesome."

We keep walking, still in a very good place with the right level of THC and alcohol. I'm thinking to myself, fuck it, time to do something a bit risky and interesting. So I opened up my "hidden" photo gallery on my phone. I found myself particularly pleased by the 16 or so thumbnails that appeared. Some great topless photos with her looking straight at the camera. A few more candid. At least one straight on ass shot. (I'm biased, but I still find my wife super hot, little curvier now, I am hypnotized every time I see her boobs.) I'm holding out my phone now waiting for the right time. My friend seemed totally clueless, more occupied at this point with finding an ice cream place that was still open.

So I finally just say yo, come here for a sec. He saunters over. I flip the whole screen of thumbnails at his face for like a second. He looked super awkward. Every bit of my attention was now focused on what he would say next. Of course you know what I wanted to hear .... I wanted him to ask to see them again! But no! He just kept walking and then tried to change the subject. I was devastated. All the posts on here were success stories and here I am with this good friend and I just did the unthinkable flashing those pics, and we were having this super open conversation, and yet he showed no interest in seeing them in detail.

I started to flounder at this point saying "if you want, I can show you them more clearly" or something stupid like that. He would not take the bait. I then accused him of being a "woman", which has been a running joke since college. I wanted him to say ok fine or something. It was kind of lame. I felt like maybe he thinks my wife is ugly or something. (There is literally no woman so ugly on this planet I wouldn't want to at least glance at a naked picture of). Anyway, that was basically it. I think really he was being sort of chivalrous, which would be in his character. But overall a major disappointment.

The rest of the night was still fun. Pretty much a no holds barred conversation about all sorts of sex stories featuring our spouses, including talking about times having done the deed in public and the like. As a sort of proxy for what I had hoped to do with my wife, I asked him if he was aware that our other lesser friend's wife has a onlyfans (I shit you not, its a mindblowing story in itself). I proceeded to pull up the explicit pics on my phone. He was more interested in those. I was a bit offended and asked him why. He explained that he had more of an actual friendship with my wife (back to the chivalry deal...).


The 1 second flash of the thumbnails still felt like a big step for me, and I think a good one. Our very open conversation was still beyond interesting. The night reminded me of the types of friendships I would have in high school, rather than the largely more walled-off relationships that pass for friendships at this stage of life.
