I've seen my mother in law pee on a few occasions, I've written about her before on this forum but I'll summarize. She too is in her 50s.

On a long walk with the dog (and SIL, MIL, wife) she often has to pee. She'll pull down her pants with us nearby. I've seen her pee this way from the front, from the rear.
