It seems so silly they wouldn't sell the photos, it's reduced the amount they can raise for their cause. Anyway I had a go at removing the text in one of the photos using photoshop. I created a new layer and typed over the text (luckily they have used default photoshop font) then created a mask and blended the two layers and changed the transparency until the text was no longer visible. Essentially getting the text to match the underlying colour. There were a few artifacts remaining which I tried to clean up a bit. I've attached the result and the original for compariosn. I assume as we didn't classify the text as a watermark (no copyright info or instruction not to copy) this is acceptable to post but Mods please remove if not. I may have a go at doing a couple more if anyone is interested. Took about an hour in total to get it how I wanted so can't do the whole set or anything.

that's very impressive. i don't understand the technicalities of how that's possible but well done.

these two are the ones i'd like to see most without the lettering

what's really really odd, is when i save these two photos and look at the thumbnails, i can't see the lettering!! can anyone explain that?

great job Ficidici! PLEASE do some more of these for us! And probably as you go along you will get a lot faster at it so that it won't be so time consuming.

Thanks 636387 - those pics are amazing Wish I knew how you did it.

All the clear pics would be brilliant. The arty ones are a waste of time

I can explain this, when you take a photo your camera will add EXIF information to the photo, describing the size/resolution, sometimes the camera's brand, maybe a geolocation, and a lower resolution thumbnail. As long as that EXIF thumbnail isn't replaced or removed the original image will stay on the thumbnail.

In this case, the original thumbnail wasn't replaced so it doesn't have the lettering.

Most image uploading sites will remove this EXIF information, but about a decade ago I found photobucket didn't remove it (they probably do now), so I'd find "censored" pictures where someone would take a naked photo but they'd photoshop over the nudity, but the thumbnail wouldn't be censored

Yeah its a known bug in older versions of Adobe Lightroom that the thumbnail didn't have the watermark. See feedback.photoshop . com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-watermark-omitted-from-embedded-thumbnails-of-exported-jpegs

Nothing of value to be exported though since its very low resolution

Here are some I had a go at a while ago.
Sloppy work but idk

If you have a chance, this is the picture I most wanted to see without the letters:

This discussion on altering the photos is interesting because I do this at home when needed. I’m sure my photo editor tools are not as complex as what we are seeing the results of but often just finding great photo enhancers and filters will do the job. For example I took the ‘fixed’ photo and wiped out those traces of color as well as finding the right filter; I think it’s an improvement especially since the original photo minus the text is black and white.

Did someone here buy the VeXts uncovXered calendar?

Using ficidici’s great work, I found the right filter to bring out the people and eliminate the letters. Remnant of a letter on the far left but who cares right, it’s next to a guy.
