A few yrs ago I bought a new & better Scanner for my old 35mm slides..
I didn't get any questions why I needed a new Scanner, (family photos, of course)..

My point is, if you have the originals the result is be better with a better scanner, & then working it, than trying to fix it by software.. I know someone improved one of my earlier posts yrs ago, but he used a professional editing program.. I'm sorry I didn't keep both versions & what program he used.. Which brings me to another point, I'm 76 & she's 73, with three kids & seven grand kids... The original pics have recently destroyed, copies are on two password protected Thumb Drives, hidden in the rafters in the Basement, ( for future owners if they can break the passwords ).. Many yrs ago I started to post only on Websites that allow you to delete them yourself.. I'm thinking now of going around & doing that.. Yes, they would be still out there, but at least they wouldn't be source material.. So, the question is, when is a good time to pack it in, & just be a lurker ??.. Any thoughts ???

Ah, thank you. You just had me confused a bit. Here we are talking about restoring old pics and you just threw out there that you bought a new scanner and nobody complained. And that was it, nothing further and no expansion on what you meant. To be honest, my first thought was "What does that have to do with this thread?" Now your previous post makes a bit more sense.

As to your second point, once it hits the Internet, it's out there. No putting that genie back in the bottle. Even if you manage to erase EVERY pic you ever posted and control access to the only physical copies, SOMEONE out there has a copy or copies, somewhere. From the most beautiful diva to the most horrendous person, somebody, somewhere,has a copy. I've seen people so ugly it makes you flinch just to look at them, but somebody, somewhere, has copies of their photos if they were put on the Internet. To be honest, I've never really been sure why.

The best you can do is as you mentioned, but just realize you will never get rid ALL of them.
