As far as I can tell, all the WNBR pics in that whole set are stolen pics from old rides. When a picture is stolen, sometimes the original date appears, but sometimes it shows the date that the re-uploader edited or uploaded the file. Many of those are Funk Dooby's. Others are Bill Royston's, maybe some are Tink Mitchell's or Arvid's? Some might be NCIS_UK's, if they removed the watermark. Most of the best ones are probably on this site already, in each year's WNBR thread. I'm not sure if they go back earlier than 2009 or not, but I recognize some from almost every year since then. Just searching WNBR Brighton on this site won't turn up every single Brighton post, but will definitely get you into the WNBR threads at the point where most of the Brighton pictures were uploaded -- generally the first couple of weeks after the ride each year. Just go through each of the 30-60 pages posted during that timeframe and your efforts will be richly rewarded. Checking out the various Brighton WNBR groups on Flickr is also highly recommended, since many of the best shots are there and watermarked, or hidden inside the groups. And over the years, a number of photographers have asked OCC to delete posts with their photos. You'd have to ask the mods how many -- sometimes it happens in public, but I'm pretty sure some of them have quietly disappeared years later, too.

Can I just say, is the real concern here server space? I'm sure WNBR threads must be amongst the most memory hungry on OCC. But I also can't help noticing that the posts which get (by far) the most thanks here are obviously those with pictures, and that those who do post their own photos here tend to post just a handful with a link to drive their Flickr views up. Which is a perfectly valid approach.

I don't know how WNBR threads compare with others for views/new OCC subscriptions, but feel certain they do very well indeed. If they were put behind a paywall I understand the issue about 'stolen pics' becomes central, but I think that could be a solution if server space is an issue. But when any old mug can take at least screenshots of online images, might it be a good idea to list online all photographers who have requested their images not be posted here? And after all, as I see it, once an image is downloaded it would be insanely pedantic to remember its source.

The more pressure that is put on users to post only their own photos, the more incentive there is for mobs of snappers at already intrusively photographed rides. (I should maybe point out, btw, that it looks to me as if after the weather did for the main 2016 rides, this year the UK rides seem to have soared again- boo to naysayers).

Great work with the posts so far from 2017 everyone. Am still wading through the river of photos, and appreciate everything that is posted here.

I believe this abides by the current rules; some Flickr galleries of Manchester, not difficult to find on Flickr, whose photographers may or may not be happy with their images being posted here, though I think some of them already have been. Thank you very much to the photographers, feel free to message me and I'll have the links removed if you're unhappy.
