If the guy is full frontal, why does the girl need a merkin? I hate covering up the good stuff.

In one of the pictures she's covering herself, with some visible foam around her groin area. I'll speculate that there's a part in the play when she "shaves" it off, so I guess the merkin makes it easier to represent that.
