I agree, anything but zippyshare and I won't bother with it.

It's like anything else, the files get uploaded to a popular host site and the posters are creatures of habit so they keep doing it even when there is something better. A lot of sites are the same way and only allow certain hosts because they are dependable so they wait a long time before embracing a newer host site.
