I spent the first week of this year in CCU/ICU. I actually died on the 5th, but as you may be able to tell, the doctors and nurses got me back....Either that or you should really be freaked out right now

This really isn't about having a feel, but more what nurses go through, I have the utmost respect for them after my episode.

Anyways, my first night in CCU was not pleasant, the pain killers I was being given were giving me some crazy dreams, the nurse kept offering to give me more, but frankly I didn't want it. I had had one surgery, I was not 100% with it, but I did manage to have a couple of conversations, my nurse was fantastic, very professional but with a great sense of humor, the fact that she was smoking hot as well didn't hurt.

So, the nurse, we can call her Jenn and I spent part of the night talking about what was going to happen the next day (open heart surgery) and the recovery process, in the room next door it was clear the patient and the nurse were having issues, I told Jenn that I was good and to go help the other nurse if she wanted, she was gone for maybe 5 minutes, came back and she told me the patient was trying to remove his breathing tube and they ended up having to strap him down.

Now I should say, Jenn is maybe 5'2, 120lbs soaking wet, i'm 6'4 250, the thoughts ran through my head and I told her I had one request, please strap me down before I come around, I really didn't want to hurt her, I have two black belts, I know how to punch and joint manipulation, my thoughts were (not 100% rational) what if subconsciously she is trying to do something and I react ????

I explained this to her (yes it seems a bit silly now) but she seemed not to be worried.

I spent 6 hours in surgery, another 16 hours asleep, I guess at some point I had tried to take out my breathing tube and yes, they had ended up strapping me down.

Anyways, around 6pm the day after surgery, I am semi awake, Jenn explains that she will be taking out the breathing tube, all I have to do is give a little cough to help things along, as I am awake and know what's going on, she is going to release me from the straps, but I shouldn't help her with the tube, just cross my arms over my chest and cough when she tells me to...Ok, all good.

So, 1,2,3 cough...Yeah the damn thing sticks, probably for a second, but to me it seemed like minutes, arms out stretched, I grab anything, the tube is out, she is wiping my mouth, then looks at me and says "you can let go of my ass now"...

I felt so bad, but she said that it wasn't a problem, she knew it was an accident and she had had guys do a lot worse than that.

After a couple more hours of sleeping it was time to get into the lovely routine of being woken every hour for checks, to the nurses reading the thread, let me tell you, from a patient point of view, those suck the most, we know you have to do it, but understand all the patient wants to do is sleep.

Anyways, at one point I ask her how many times shes been groped, she said just about every patient ends up grabbing part of her at some point, very rarely is it in a sexual way, in CCU/ICU the patients really are not in any condition to do anything anyways.

I will say, I have so much respect for nurses and what they put up with.

When I was 18, something heavy fell on my foot. I got a very nasty hematoma under my toenail. The doctor said they will have to remove the toenail to treat it.

I asked how much it will hurt and he said this is considered a surgery and local anesthetic will be administered so I will be awake but will not feel much.

They did give me an anesthetic, and at the beginning of procedure I felt almost nothing, it felt like they were clipping my toenail. But when the doctor actually started pulling my toenail off it started to hurt like hell. I don't recall ever experiencing such a pain in my life, before or after, and I had my share of injuries. I don't know, maybe the gave me too little anesthetic or they administered it in the wrong place. It felt like I got no anesthetic at all.
I clenched my fists around the edges of the bed and was trying desperately to suppress my moans.

The nurse assisting - very cute redhead, probably around 25-28, perfect body - saw how much pain I was in. She gave me the cutest smile. She moved to the side of my bed where I was squeezing the edge of the bed with my right hand. She leaned on the edge of the bed and pushed on my fist with her crotch.
