What is a good media player to play all types of Codec files.

What is the best media player that will play all types of video's.
I remember once seeing a post where someone had a link to a site that the program would play just about any type of codec video. rar, mp4, wmx, etc etc... It would even play the ones that were zipped without having to go to winzip.

Does any one know of a good media player

I use VLC - free download

The best one hands down is Media Player Classic. Don't waste anytime with anything else.

Is there any way of avoiding suspect downloaders? (Sourceforge or CNET)?
