Ref the pics in Post 109...
I am thinking these are close to the top of Mount Major above Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Several of the pics on Google Earth near the summit look pretty good for being the right place - but none really looks perfect for island sizes, directions, etc. I could not find "the spot" for these pics (probably a couple of states away!) I could be wrong. newlicker - if you know where this is and if it is not Mount Major please let me know - thanks! |

Thanks for the hint on the location for the pics in Post 809. With that HUGE hint from you I might throw in another guess that these pics were taken on the rock-looking material at 43°32'42.64"N 71°10'28.63"W . If that's not it I will throw in the towel on this one. I was pretty lucky to have even gotten the right lake on the first guess. Thanks for the pics. She is a cutie - nice smile - and big boots! |

Wow - there it is - pretty obvious when you know where it is! Thanks a million for those posts. Two things about this were really interesting to me. The first is that the view from Mount Major looked enough like your posted pics to make me think that was the spot when it was actually about 7 miles away - and on the wrong side of the major island features. The other thing is that I was not really considering how things might look with a little zoom on the camera - when compared to how they look on Google Earth. I need to work on that if I keep this up. I get up to Manchester a couple of times a year. I may add a day in the next trip to get up there to check out Lake Winnipesaukee. Thanks for bringing all this to our attention - and for the nice pics from Caverly Mountain and Mount Major!! fredx Last edited by fredx; 01-15-2014 at 10:14 PM. |
