| How do I add "originally posted by" link?

How to I add the "originally posted by . . . " link to quotes? I just learned about this link feature the other day but have yet to figure out how to add it. Thanks. |

When you click the "Quote" button it should take you to the Reply to Thread page, with the post quoted, beginning with this: [QUOTE=delta69;1619091]. The part after the equals sign is how the "originally posted by" link is made. The username is bolded, and the number after the semicolon creates the link to the quoted post. The number is the p= number in any post URL that looks like this: forum.oneclickchicks.com/showpost.php?p=1619091&postcount=1. That URL can be found in the number of any post, as seen here: All that said, this should all take place automatically when you click the "Quote" button on any post. Is that not the case for you? It works, but I don't understand why you would want to attribute a post someone made to somebody else. Fango |

Well, that was easy enough. I have been doing it by clicking "reply to thread", and doing the quote by pasting the quoted line using the "quote" ikon on the toolbar line (directly about the white text area, below the forward and backward ikons). And the reason: I discovered (well, someone pointed out) that by clicking on the blue "originally posted by" link I'd get back to the original post. Previously I had referred to previous posts by number, but apparently those numbers change if posts are scrubbed for whatever reason. That "originally posted by" link is the easy way to refer someone back to a photo (for instance) that you want to talk about. Anyway, thanks for the instructions. It was simpler than it sounded. |
