It's been a tradition of ours. you try to trap the leprechaun in a trap and you get his gold. Usually, what happens is you trap him, he gets out, but all his stuff gets scattered in the process.
This year, the kids dug a hole in the ground, placed a metal pot over the hole with a stick and a string attached to a rock covered in aluminum foil. The little guy goes in the hole, tries to steel the goodies, the pot falls on top of him and he is trapped.

It was a lot nicer than in years past, when one year they rigged a brick to crush the poor guy and I had to explain the stitches in my head.
This year I left a surprise for them.

I bought a small green vest and leprechaun hat, rubbed them with cat nip, and left them so their cat would play with it. This way it looks like the leprechaun and the cat got into it.

A man walks into a hamburger shop and orders a regular meal. Later, the waitress brings his meal to him. He takes a bite out of it, and notices there's a small hair in the hamburger. He begins yelling frantically at the waitress, "Waitress, there's a hair in my hamburger! I demand to see what is going on!"

So, the waitress takes him back where the cook is and to his demise, he sees the cook take the meat patty and flatten it under his arm pit. He says, "That's disgusting!"

Then the waitress says, "You think that's disgusting you should see him make donuts."
