I wish I could find the page again, but a newspaper questioned a sheriff as to why the 5 mugshots released appeared to have been taken of naked people. He said that they are booked in the state of dress they were in when arrested although they are give a towel to wrap up. Women wrap under their arms and men around their waist usually. In either case the towel doesn't show in the mug shot.

Haven't seen that in years! All the "most wanted" in our local paper look just like these - plain background

Nevada is a harsh state and does treat people who have been arrested badly. They bind people to chairs place bags over their heads place them in isolation before ever being arrainged, let alone being bound over for trial or convicted.
In every state I am aware of, until you are being sent to jail, either upon conviction or because you can't make bail you wear your own clothes and keep all the items in your pockets. So most people go home within 24-48 hours with the same clothes without ever removing them. Those who commit serious crimes and can't make bail tend to go to lock-up while the family sc****s the bail together. Other make bail right there and then and go home. Some states like NV tend to do this to prosititutes because they know there is no real punishment for these victimless crimes. They are not nude but they have jackets and other items removed to expose them as much as possible ie in their working clothes. Starting under Giuliani NYC keeps drug users in processing as long as possible because that tends to be all the time they will serve. Until conviction you are presumed innocent and not subject to such treatment. I did and do not intend this to be a political post so i don't want to argue this. if you have different info post it. I just wanted people to know these photos are probably of prosititues who were arrested and more than likely in NV which does use this debasement as a form of punishment before conviction. Chensey is right. Also they are not public property, they are public record. A large difference. However I find this thread distasteful. To post mugshots of people, on this site women, is wrong on so many levels. First many of these people might be innocent. Second this is not some girl getting her top yanked down at the beach, this is people's misery. I hope it gets deleted or closed. It's just wrong. what a joke. i used the word scr-pes and place an a were the dash is to see what the word is and it gets censored because the larger word containes the smaller word r-pes. Oh my!! Yes....the people's misery, but reality ! Sheriff Arpaio for they must be made to disgust the jail for not seeing them again : all persons entering prison are strip men and women, shaved, showered equipped with a striped uniform and chains on their feet !

If anything, these are photos taken after sentencing and when the new inmate is sent to prison. These are not post-arrest booking photos. At least where I live, nobody is stripped for those photos.
