BTW - DatNolaSam over at Flickr has posted over 500 pics from the New Orleans ride. Although it does appear he is snapping really fast (and so has the same babes in multiple shots), its still a lot of pics indicating this is a pretty big ride. So.....for US rides occurring in daylight, which are the biggest? Phily? NOLA? Somewhere else? Both of these I think look to have maybe 200-400 riders. Phily's is later in the year. In the exclusive "Over 100 club", we can now, i think, add the Portland Sunny Nekkid ride 2, which by my estimate topped that mark last Saturday afternoon. Seattle's is pretty big also. And the NYC ride may be pulling in over 100 too.

Unfortunately, the New York City WNBR really did some downhill coasting this year, especially when it came to both overall turnout and nude female riders.

The NYC Summer Blog reports:

"Compared to last year’s ride the turn out was much smaller and much less nude. While we saw a few men riding nude, I saw no women topless or baring anything. Not even a thong."

Although there is one picture linked to below of one young lovely flashing by pulling down her top.

One can speculate on the reasons for the decline, but this year's ride was closely linked to the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, and that may have been a distraction. You may recall the police tracked the group last year and made a couple of arrests.

And, much of the ride is in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, which is known for its residential ethnic communities, especially very pious Hasidic Jews, who probably aren't delighted to see even near naked people ride by on their bikes, when they wear warm clothing, including hats and jackets, to go along with their beards on even the hottest days. It just doesn't sound like the most ideal situation for a WNBR ride, and the turnout and enthusiasm apparently reflected that. How bad it was might be reflected in the fact that topless riding is perfectly legal in NYC at any time, and still it wasn't done in the WNBR.

(It's not NYC, but just 80-miles away, the Philadelphia ride is Labor Day weekend, in September, after all the college kids come back to town, and everybody else is away for three days. Going topless or nude in public is against both state and local laws but the Philly police have been cool, where the NYPD was strict and probably would be delighted if the whole WNBR thing went away.)

The size estimates of the Philly ride are somewhere around 2,000. I don't think that's official, since they don't do a complete count video like Chicago, but I think it's a fair estimate seeing some of the overhead shots. So inflation aside, put it somewhere around 1,500 to 2,000. That's the same size as the Chicago ride, but with the added bonus that at least the first half is in dusk/twilight, and fully light out for the painting party.

So as far as North American rides, it's in a rough tie with Chicago for second place, and first in terms of what we could broadly consider "daytime" rides.

It's almost certain that OCC was the source of these pics, especially given some of Klondike's originals were in there. As forums go, except in rare cases I find that we're basically the first place event pics show up. Then other forums take their pics from our threads, etc.

Since most pics we post on here aren't originals (taken from flickr, etc), one can't really complain. But it's useful to keep that in mind when posting things from other forums back onto OCC. It's from one of the events that we feature heavily here (WNBR, B2B, Fremont, Roskilde, etc), there's a good chance the pics were here before they were there.
