No, she was a 'stroppy teen' daughter who remained in her swimsuit all the time.

As far as my 'retirement' is concerned, it's equipment problems mainly, my existing camera a Sony Cybershot DSC-T300 suffers from a known fault, that when it gets hot, the glue holding the stabiliser goes soft, causing the lens to vibrate.

The batteries are also dead, but I do not want to buy new batteries, for a camera I can only use on 'chilly' beach days. I have looked at what is on the market (internal 5x Optical zoom) and there is nothing to come near, except those waterproof cameras who all have a terrible (100 shot) battery life! Even if I had the money (which I don't), I have yet to find a camera up to the job. Almost all modern digitals have external zooms, this is impossible, both for secrecy and sand reasons!

So that is why I am probably not going to continue with this pastime, blame the camera makers!

Thanks for the comments though, if any camera guru has any ideas, I am open to suggestions!

A very kind idea John, but I still have to find a model that will do the job. I think that is 'almost' the bigger problem. I do not want to lose that optical zoom, as getting closer to my subjects is fraught with danger, specially going several times a week.

Does anyone know what kind of camera itsmee uses? It's a HD video camera and the still frame photos he gets from the videos are better than just about any other still camera out there.

Nope, mechanical external zoom, it would last about one visit and sells at more than $250 equivilant here in Europe, if you can find one. As I said, it has to be internal zoom, which limits the max to 5 times. Itsmee used to come here, did he not?

I have sent Itsmee a PM for some advice, if I get info, I'll post back here.

I think I may found a replacement camera, but I'll wait a few days. It's no better than the one I had, but it fits the bill in most areas and is not very expensive.

HD video sounds like a good idea. You may get slightly lower still image quality if you extract single frames, but hey, you'll get VIDEO!
And you will get a twisting LCD screen, internal optics, and ~ 20 optical zoom.

Have you seen the quality of itsmee's HD video still frames? They are better than any thing I've seen from a still camera. A lot of still cameras that supposedly shoot HD have very grainy pictures when shot at full size. Someone I know has a HD still camera that takes huge pictures that are grainy. When you shrink them down they look good. But very grainy at full resolution. Try making a still frame from one of Jackass' HD movies. The image quality is good.

Here's a link to a gallery of Itsmee/karennudist's video still frames. Voyeurweb compresses the hell out of the pictures submitted to them to reduce bandwidth use. But these still look good at 87kB per picture. They were probably much better when submitted.

I don't know how much itsmee's camera costs. But it probably isn't cheap. An HD video camera that you can get high quality still frames from would be a nice addition to Pedro's arsenal. Can we get a contribution fund going?
