( cut to keep post smaller)
Now, should I take the time and just run through a few threads hitting the 'Thanks' button in order to be polite? Or should I take care of my other business and chores so that I can hope to find time maybe tomorrow or the next day to post some more pictures? Personally, I don't want people just hitting the 'Thanks' unless they're sincere. If my post aren't appreciated they shouldn't hit the 'Thanks'. Then I'd stop posting and free up time for other things. My general rule of thumb: If I download a picture and save it to my hard drive, I should hit the 'Thanks'. Just my opinion.[/quote]
That was a nicely balanced opinion. I agree with the thanks when I download, as that is the time I am finding the post post a) useful b) funny c) something I want to encourage the poster to keep posting. I don't thank a poster if I've already got it, which could easily be as in my case I have five computers and over 20Terrabytes of storage between them and still increasing. At least a third is porn, probably more, though I've never bothered to check

so I do find many pics I already have too as you also do. The thanks do however strike the best balance that I can see. There are occasions that I am looking through and don't have time to reply to a post that i find good but I can at least click the "thanks" button to at least register my interest and hopefully show the poster that i am interested. When time permits I can go back and reply if I wish. I've had posts that attracted maybe 7 or 8 "Thanks" at the beginning. Now the same posts have passed 100! I don't require them to post, but as you said, when time becomes precious i will post more for the ones thanking me en priority as I appreciate that they have also given me a few seconds of their time by clicking the button.
