I found that, early in my experience with OCC, I reposted a couple of things that I had downloaded from OCC. To avoid doing that, I have created an "OCC" file, so that I know I got the vid from OCC and there's no way I'm going to repost it.

Hey jawsfun or Kitt 5000, or anyone else who can help me with BSplayer capping. I'm trying everything I can think of, and nothing seems to be working. I checked the preferences to make sure I was hitting the right key(s), etc. All I keep getting is similar to the pic shown here. Could someone perhaps explain exactly what they're doing. Maybe I'm just missing one little step or something. Thanks.

Dear All,

Use MPlayer (Linux: www.mplayerhq.hu, Windows: www.mplayerhq.hu, MacOSX: mplayerosx.sf.net) to create vidcaps: run this: (mplayer -ao null -vo jpeg -frames 1 VIDEO_FILENAME). The created vidcap will be 00000*.jp*g in the folder you started mplayer from.

For those running Windows XP, just throw the clip into MovieMaker and play it. On the bottom right just below where the vid plays, there is a little button that looks like a camera; click that and it'll take a picture of what is in your little movie screen.

This is literally one click capping; just click and say where you want to save the cap (I default mine to the desktop so that I can delete it as soon as I post the vid).

With all the problems of late nothing is more irritating then seeing this happening. People that have never bothered to post are flooding the forum with reposts. Please before posting look at the vid or pic if its been out their all over the web its been posted by now here. Check the past posts before uploading.

Thanks for the recommendation. MovieMaker locks up a lot and I couldn't find anything else that worked. So far I haven't had a problem with BSPlayer.

Well I finally figured out what my problem was. I had to go into preferences and switch from YV12 format to YUY2 format. In case anyone else is having the same difficulty.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was having the same problem. Over the past few weeks I've been trying to find ways to contribute more, I thought vid capping some of the threads that had not already been capped would be an easy way to do so. However, I could not get BSplayer to work properly. Now I have that problem fixed thanks in large part to your explanation of the problem. Again, thanks for your help.

In the interest of conserving bandwidth, a "thanks" for every new thread is being discouraged.
I definately agree when the intent is to boost one's post count. However, if I sense that somebody has
put forth a little extra effort, I feel a thank you is in order. We each have our own areas of special interest,
and if a contribution trips my own trigger, I will respond positively. Much of what I've posted is my own stuff,
and its nice to know whether somebody liked it.

I'd like to add that the message about caps with a video post seems to be working. Thanks.

To make vid caps in Mac OS 7-9.x I pause the video and then use Command-shift-4. This gives you a cross-hair that you use to outline the area of the screen you want to save. The area you save shows up on your hard drive as a simple text document called "Picture". Rename it with .jpg extension.
