ALL MEMBERS & PEOPLE POSTING TONS OF VIDEO NOW PLEASE READ

With all the bandwith problems Alex has been having around here things are not going to get much better if not worse now with people trying to post videos trying to access the videos section. The biggest way everyone can help around here right now is to make a cap of the video you are uploading because bandwith is being used up on downloading stuff that has already been seen hundreds of times. alot of bandwith would be saved if you made one simple cap with the video you upload . There is NO excuse not to because there are many FREE ways to do this. The one i use for everything is the bs player all you do is simply hit the p key and you have a nice jpeg of the video & it caps 99% of all videos that i play. Here is the link to download the free player http://www.bsplayer.org/ capping your videos should be a must before things get out of hand around here with so many videos getting posted now. Please help the bandwith problem by doing this " there is no excuse not to " By the way i know i have been gone a long time but i have just got a whole new system and i am working on brand new stuff for the OCC right now. I'll be able to get back posting on a regular basis very soon :) Kitt 5000

Looking forward to your return Kitt and couldn't agree with the above comments more. Please everyone, post caps. It really does only take an extra minute and will be a great help.
:)

Not to make too fine a point, nor single anyone out, but a lot of stuff is being uploaded now that
has been around for years. Also, as long as I'm whining, why start a new thread for each new part
of the same video series? It just clutters the pages and pushes the other threads down.

I couldn't agree more about including a cap or two, it ain't rocket science.

It really helps to see a cap because some of us have a modem and slow phone line connection. When you waste ten minutes downloading a vid you all ready have you just wasted time better spent downloading something else.

Thanks

I totally agree as well, and you all make a good point. I have noticed several reposts and/or very old videos lately and felt I wasn't helping the cause by downloading something I didn't need. My brother told me about BSPlayer but I never got around to trying it out. If anyone else would like to recommend other alternatives to capping, please feel free to post it in this thread, until hopefully everyone will find something that suits them and we can greatly reduce all the bandwidth usage. This site is way to good to let any ignorance or laziness get in the way. Finding good vids for this site should be a priority, but so should doing our part to keep it running smoothly.

It's good to see you agian kitt 5000.

The vidcaps really make a big difference. There is a thread here that gives advice on making vidcaps:

Tutorial: How to make vidcaps

Hopefully people that are new to posting videos will get the message and start adding vidcaps.

I would also encourage any other members to help out by making vidcaps of some of the recent posts that are lacking vidcaps. Everyone would apreciate it.

Thanks,

Just tried out BSPlayer and while I don't like it for viewing, damn it sure does make "capping" easy as hell. I just capped every vid I downloaded this evening (at least I don't feel like such a slacker now :) ); there shouldn't be any reason for uploaders not to do it. It takes a whole extra 30 seconds per video.

I have to agree...

There's nothing more irritating than downloading something you have seen or have had for years. I recently made my first upload and I had no problem uploading caps cuz I know how it feels. I use zoomplayer, Alt F gets a framegrab with that. Easy peasy.

I assume all of the suggestions made here apply only to PC's. Does anyone know of a (free) program that will make vidcaps for .wmv files and will work on a Mac? There is one called "Play it Cool", that I know will do caps from .mpg's. It only works on System 9, but that is good enough.
