I enjoy contributing to this forum, and regularly upload series of pics when I find them. I generally put a new series in a new thread, try to include a descriptive title, and include as many as I have. If there's generally 20 or less I upload all of them in two posts. If there's more I'll either upload a zip or include a link to a rapidshare file. I pay for my rapidshare so as to keep them up for as long as possible for other peoples enjoyment.
I received a recent reply to a new thread complaining that it was a repost and that there was no need for a new thread for it. So there are two choices: Option 1: I can continue as I have been, uploading a lot of (I think) high quality stuff with the risk of occasional reposts Option 2: I can hunt through existing posts checking for reposts and for a suitable pre-existing thread to put it it. This will reduce the amount of stuff I post as frankly I can't be arsed doing that. Your call! |

I think if the topic is pretty generic (beach pics, party pics, babes, teen antics, etc) go ahead and continue to start new threads. You wouldn't have been reprimanded by Stevin for starting a new one if the pics hadn't been reposts. Otherwise, all I would encourage of members is that they be aware of what ongoing threads exist and on what topics. Bike pics and such lend themselves well to ongoing threads, and I'd be a little lost if everyone were to start a new thread every time they found a new bike pic. Same for many other topics. Often these are relatively narrow and well defined (WNBR 2008, naked musicians, naked pumpkin run, etc) Anyway, ongoing threads help reduce clutter on the board, and, as long as they don't get too huge, make finding stuff easier. As for reposts - don't worry too much about that. it is a fact of life and every member posts them no matter how hard they try to avoid it. BTW - my smart ass response to your thread was directed mainly at the title. I do apologize and I hope that you continue to post away without fear of such retorts. thats my take, Klondike Last edited by Klondike; 11-02-2008 at 09:06 PM. |

Reposts are bound to happen, especially when dealing with photos. It's a lot harder to do a search and find similar photos as it is to do with videos, which of course have a title to search by.
If a member feels like a set of pictures are great and wants to start a new thread for them then there isn't anything wrong with that.....as long as the pictures aren't taken from a previous thread. Don't let one member with a semi-negative comment towards your post turn you off to contributing. He could of simply replied saying it was posted before and showed the various links where the pictures are already posted. If any pictures are reposted they will just be deleted accordingly, no harm no foul. I would say go with Option 1, Revilo.

i have a thread here that i update frequently
and what i try to put in there are pictures that could have already been posted and the ocassional new series the thread has about 10 gigs of pictures uplouded to it so its no way to remember what was posted if i find a serious that i think is pretty much new i will start a new thread for it seems to work for me

Thanks for the positive comments! Don't worry, I wasn't going to stop contributing no matter what you lot said (apart from possibly Alex!) as I enjoy doing it, I honestly want to do things best I can.
And Klondike, retort all you like mate, water off a ducks back, I don't get into flame wars or anything, if I feel like having a bit of banter I'll respond (as I did), if I truly don't like someone's opinion I'll just generally ignore them - much easier! I like to think of myself as easy going (a pupil recently told me if I was any more laid back I'd fall over). |
