I can only speak of my experience with my own wife. For her, I think weight has a lot to do with her self esteem. She tries to blame everything on ageing, but the true culprit is those extra pounds. I let her know how gorgeous she is all the time. She's incredible, and I still get aroused just thinking about her. I know other men look at her, but I don't think she believed it. I understand self esteem issues too, though. She has admitted having multiple men interested in her is a turn on, and I assume this would help her self esteem. Our experience is similar to a few others on here. I've posted various parts of this on different discussion threads here.

My wife went through a similar feeling of low self-esteem/self-concious about her body. I think that's pretty common for women as they age.
