Session Expires are a common problem with IE8, as well as other bugs.
Try the following:
Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Advanced. Check off
Override Automatic Cookie Handling and
Always Accept Session Cookies, then click
OK twice to exit out.
If that doesn't seem to work you should try switching over to
Firefox. It's definitely more user friendly and virtually bug free.
