The reason I say this is because I just posted a rather lengthy reply to a post in the Non-Fiction section. I've already edited it once, but the more I think about it, the more I think I should edit it again to remove some statements I made that could potentially cause trouble if the wrong person were to come across it (however small the odds are). However, now it turns out I can't edit or even delete my post at all, without "reporting" my own post and waiting for a moderator.

If I do go down that road, are moderators going to be annoyed at my using the report function to make relatively minor edits to my own posts?

I'm also a lot less likely to post original content if I can't take it down at short notice. I mean, I understand it would be frustrating for people if something was removed, but surely that's better than scaring people off by making our posts pretty much permanent?

Any input from mods would be appreciated, they do a great job here.
I can assure you the wait would not be long and we would not be annoyed if you reported your post for editing purposes. At anytime if you would like a post edited or removed please do not hesitate to ask. We would also remove all related posts that may have quoted or mentioned your original post, to avoid confusion and to avoid any unwanted attention.

Thanks,
Slick
