Saving YouTube Vids

Has anyone managed to be able to do this? I have aprog that captures the frames in real time, but it's annoyingly slow. Any reccomendations?

youtube

Here you go: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php Do a search on OCC and you find other info on this, but this site is what you need and a .flv player

May I also direct you to my brand new, hot off the presses sticky post on this very subject?

Simple Fix

Ill make this quick and real simple for everyone. First if you don't have and use firefox browser then get and please use it thats my first bit of advice, the next step is go to the mozilla site and then to their extentions sections. You need to dl the ext. called video-downloader. You can do a search for it via their site, this is a great little program created for the exact purpose of what you asked about and I might add works very well with a great number of those type of sites! Another program I would also advice all to try is one called download-helper, this is more complex but it can search the site that you are at and then dl media for you that is embedded or as flash media or if your lazy like me and don't want to have to save each single file sometimes and just want to make things simple!

Convert FLV to Mpeg or AVI

Should you wish to convert said FLV file into an Mpeg or AVI then get yourself Riva FLV encoder.

This allows you to convert the files into AVI or Mpeg.

You tube download

You don't have to go through all that, just install a free version of Real Player, It invites you to download any format.

Just

... go here ...

http://keepvid.com/

Enter the URL of the Youtube video and you save the "HQ" version ...

There is a good 'Free' .FLV converter out there too, (havn't got
the URL to hand), but HAVE tried both and they "do the job" OK :)

/On "KeepVid", if the YouTube URL is, say .... uk.Youtube.com/.....
you must DELETE the uk. part before copying the link
into KeepVid....

EDIT ... OK, I see Mr. Fango has already mentioned KeepVid,
but the .FLV files converter is at ...

http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html

... I have an "Earlier" version ... V5.2 or summat ... so have NOT
tried the download currently on the site, V6.7 ...

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but an easy way to save many things you see on you tube is to go to your "temporary internet file" (if you use I.E.) In the upper bar, touch sort "by size" almost video and everything you view is in there usually listed there in large files as videoplayback(1) or (2) etc. copy to another folder, add the extension of .flv to the file name by "renaming it" and it can then be played with any FLV player. Sometimes you'll see them listed as .gom or .mp4 copy and paste these and they can be played too with an appropriate player.

I hope this helps you or others that want to save you tube files.

Or if you use Firefox download Download Helper. It allows you to download youtube and dailymotion and many other streaming vids.

Does anyone know how to save videos from the site below? I realise there's probably little of interest to most people on here, but I'm keen to save some things & none of the usual software seems to work (Firefox Download Helper usually works on anything but not this site)...
