Tech help needed
 

I used to use an android tablet and put downloaded files in a folder then use a an OTG cable to put them on a USB stick..
But now I use a laptop and it can't read these subfiles. I can see them but can't access them.
I have loads of good stuff I now can't share.
This is what comes up. Can anyone help?

Is it possible that it's because the folder is named "1/8"? In my experience, Windows doesn't allow folders with forward slashes in the name. So I'm not even sure how you got those folders to exist in the first place. But maybe try renaming one and see what happens.

Damn that never occurred to me. I named them on a tablet not a Windows laptop. Thanks Fango I'll give that a try.

You have solved the problem of why. But I can't rename them on my laptop. I may have to get a nexus tablet.

One way might be to boot from a Linux live USB flash drive to look at the Windows C: drive and then rename the files.

There are so many Linux distros out there which will do this job - so to narrow this down I suggest Linux Mint with the Xfce desktop

You can boot from the USB, carefully choosing NOT to install it but use it as a live USB and not change anything, then navigate to the errant files rename them eg changing the / to - Then log off, remove the USB, reboot to Windows and then use the files.

If you have never heard of Linux or booted from USB before, this could seem daunting - but there are straightforward instructions on Linux websites

BTW Linux Mint is all free, reputable and perfectly kosher. The main risk is you accidentally install it when you don't want to.

Thank you very much for the advice. You are right it does sound daunting.
I will attempt that if digging out my old nexus, and trying to rename them via my otg cable fails. I've currently got a got several years of usb sticks I can only read through my.blu ray player, and only partially at that.
So it'll be worth a bit of trouble on my part.
