My own responses were: I prefer storyline and I like it to be more subtle so that I can fill in more of the details with my own imagination.

I like the more hardcore topics... and as long as the woman is being pleasured, that's fine with me

And finally, I like fiction well enough, but if it's not believable at all, well then I kind of lose interest.

UNLESS it's purposely supposed to be not believable (like for instance I wrote some obvious supernatural erotica and it was quite clear that was the intent...) in which case I'm OK with it.

But I hate to read stuff like "this is a true story..." and then later "after the police arrested her they took her down to the station and every cop fucked her in the holding cell while the chief of police jerked off." Uh, no.

Not at all! Your answer adds a welcome added wrinkle to our discourse. Thanks for explaining it in detail!

I have to say that I am very impressed with you guys that no one has chosen (to this point) the "I want all sex" option. You've surprised me... in a good way.

Default In pictures or text I

like stuff that is believable but has many taboo elements about it. I like a picture of the everyday world eroticized. The older, seemingly conservative, nonsexual woman described in all her lush carnality...the everyday relationship that becomes forbidden by subtle strokes...appropriate people doing wild, inappropriate things...a beautiful, pristine woman pissing or taking a shit...the conservative girl casting her doubts to the wind and appearing nude in public...men doing inappropriate things, forbidden to them by society...

What do I not find sexy? Conventional porn. People who look like they are having sex for money, like it's their job. If a woman is a conventional wh*r* at first, no matter what she does, it won't be erotic because there is no contrast, no excitement. There has to be a counterpoint to the sex, something opposing the sex that gives way to the sex.

Well, this is OCC...lots of the stuff here isn't just straight fucking...most of us like niche stuff. I doubt a poll of men at large would garner such results...

OMG you are so right. I had a bf whose fav tape was Lesbian Lovers. The women were so obviously not enjoying it and in fact they weren't even "doing" anything. There was a scene where one girl "ate another one out" where the camera just showed the girl's face between the other's legs and she stuck her tongue out towards the pussy in question. But it was still like 3 inches away. She never even touched her. The first girl was moaning in what had to be the worst acting performance ever recorded.

My BF loved it and I was like, c'mon you dipshit this is horrible! I didn't care that he wanted to watch lesbian porn, I just wished he was smart enough to pick REAL lesbian porn. LOL

Interesting observation and I believe you are probably right.

I completely share your views, Captain. To me, sex is one of the least sexy things to read about, that's why I never write it. But ending a good ENF story along the lines of, "My girlfriend was so horny from being seen naked by a bunch of total strangers that we had the best sex ever that night" is fine, I just don't need to know the graphic details. The idea that she was turned on by her embarrassment is a satisfying enough conclusion. I wouldn't call that juvenile, it's just different from a lot of mainstream tastes. Erotica versus pornography, one features sex prominently, the other doesn't.

Default i dunno...

I agree with a lot of the points being made here, agreeing that the actual sex is not the main attraction, but...
while I find it very important for the story to be believable (even though some of the best ENF stories have been out the window ridiculously implausible), do we really need the STORY itself to be good? Sure, it must have a story, and it must be believable, but perfect erotica a good story does not make, IMO. It may be an important part, but THE most important part? I don't think so. I was surprised at how quickly people seemed to pick that choice. It's almost cliche. Granted, once again I agree that the reason we're here and not at some straight up "people fuckin" site is because we're a niche group. We prefer foreplay to the actual act.

For me though, perfect erotica, it's all about description. Artistry is good, sometimes graphic is better, depending on the scene being described. If the author is delicately describing the way a pretty sundress flutters down the slender virgin body of the story's protagonist, I appreciate all the poetry you can stuff into her reaction and her body. If the victim... I mean protagonist is spread eagle in front of a projector screen with her lady parts on display, anything besides graphic detail seems to defeat the entire point of the scene. Most of us don't come to the fiction board here purely to satisfy our intellectual desires, even if the erotic part of our brain requires or is stimulated by that intellectual touch. As long as a story exists and it's descriptive enough to spark my imagination, satisfy my more basic desires for a sexy piece of fiction, and most importantly, SURPRISE me with fresh ways to describe things and new twists and ways for stories to end, I think it has the elements of perfect erotica.

just my humble thoughts, to each his own.

I wonder if this varies based on gender. For instance, a good story, especially one that connects with me on an emotional level gets me more invested & immersed, then makes the sexual elements that much better for me.

LOL. I understand this viewpoint too. In such circumstances I prefer the story to present those elements as "fantasy erotica".

It's just something about the author telling me "this really happened!" and then being bombarded by highly-unlikely circumstances.... I'd rather they say "I REALLY wish THIS would happen" then I'm perfectly cool with it.
