Worth another check back: there are now videos and slide shows. The only one I've been able to check so far, given my snaily connection, is at picasaweb.google.com/106354232648936085214/WNBR2012DavidW?authkey=Gv1sRgCNLMz6jatMy1Nw&feat=f lashalbum# (remember to add https up front to this and the following), which while they were watermarked and only 600x800, nonetheless yielded these I saved: lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uhLZY6Vg0kY/T1X4Txn3kUI/AAAAAAAABag/OZomuwUIExY/s0/P1030883.jpg , lh5.googleusercontent.com/-oEm6nbgVvHI/T1X3kfxu3LI/AAAAAAAABZw/5-IoO-XAgo8/s0/P1030862.jpg , lh6.googleusercontent.com/-RjF7BrKGx3M/T1X2FUs3o6I/AAAAAAAABY4/bbORBL_YdW4/s0/P1030832.jpg , lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qiOEp8YOUXE/T1X1S7MKYDI/AAAAAAAABWk/cBposDdLegk/s0/Mud%20covered%202.jpg

Thanks for the info, but (for me) it's almost impsossible to get these from the way you had to list them.

Default WNBR LONDON 2012 - HINTS AND TIPS

Hopefully some of you will be attending the London WNBR on June 9th - London will be at its very best between the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics - so here's some tips to get the best from your day.
The course is about 8-9 miles long, looping through central london and takes well over 2 hours to complete (traffic, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, etc), so it's quite possible, by walking or using the 'tube', to see the ride three or four times during the afternoon. This is worth doing as some riders drop out, while others shed their inhibitions during the ride. Because the ride gets spread out, there are a number of 'regrouping points' to wait for back markers to catch up. It's easier to photograph someone standing next to you than someone wizzing past in the pack, so these are the places to be.
The event is fantastically well organised and the route is available on the web. Here are the probable waiting points:-
Piccadilly (near Green Park tube station)
Whitehall (near Downing Street)
South Bank (Belvedere Road near County Hall)
Waterloo Bridge (North end)
St Pauls (South side)
Lincolns Inn Fields
Charing Cross Road (South end)
The Mall
Wellington Arch (finish)
So don't just go to the start, grab a few shots and go home. Hyde Park at 3pm is a bear pit (pun intended) and most riders will be intimidated by the crowds. And don't just stand by a wide, fast road and try to grab a few shots (unless you're a very good photographer)
Instead, try to 'join the' dots between the regrouping points.
For example, you could wait for them in Whitehall, then walk to Waterloo Bridge to see them again, then stroll up to Lincoln's Inn and finally, catch the tube from Holburn to Hyde Park Corner to see the finish.
Or you could meet them on the South Bank, walk over the bridge to Covent Garden for their return and then take the tube to Hyde Park, etc, etc.
Lincolns Inn is a particularly good spot, as it's a small open square, with a one-way system. Riders have to queue up to enter from Kingsway via Sardinia Street, then they circle the square several times, before queuing again to leave by Remnant Street. Photo ops guaranteed (a couple from last year attached - apologies for quality, I only had a pocket camera).
A final tip - take spare batteries, you may need them.

Thanks for the tips mate! As a Brit, not making it for the 3rd year in a row is so excruciatingly painful - my buddy's lady friend will be riding topless (Who she is - I hardly know - but he hinted that she's committed to returning from a 4/5-year WNBR hiatus... interesting), and I'm only coming home for the Olympic Games

Default The 2012 WNBR from the United Kingdom.

Hi guys, as many fans know, we are just over a week away from the UK's naked bike riding season.

For a country that used to have hang ups over nudity (blame the Victorians!), getting fully nude in a busy shopping area in broad daylight has taken off there, almost more than anywhere else, with new rides starting up every year.

I would like to keep this thread just for British events please, as they often out weigh other countries and (with a bit of sunshine) this WNBR thread gets HUGE over the coming weeks and months. By keeping the UK as a seperate thread, I hope that this will allow re-posts to be more easily checked and new finds more easily posted.

I will list below where to see the rides and hope that this will give you Brit based members a chance to contribute something positive to this thread. You do not even have to lie to the wife or girlfriend, just say you are in town to
buy her a present! That way, you get shots as the riders pass you!

Better still, at some events be around at the start and finish! Even better still, join a ride yourself! That way, girls will be happy to pose for you if you ask nicely!

I can supply more details if you have the time to visit and please remember, if you do go to the start and finish, be respectful to the riders.

Here is the current listing ...

THE EARLY RIDES

Portsmouth, Hants (now timed to take in the last weekend of the local University)
Saturday 26 May 2012
Time: 1pm for 2pm start
Location: In front of the Rose Gardens, the Esplanade, Portsmouth, PO4 9RU
A new ride for 2011 where the riders were mainly male, but the date change has added plenty of students on facebook. A Saturday afternoon ride.

Manchester
Fri 1st June 2012
Time: 6pm for 7pm
Location: All Saints Park, Cavendish St (off Oxford Road near MMU)M15 6BH.
A well established ride that nowadays features members and friends from the University 'Naked Cooking Club'

York
2nd June 2012.
Time: Shortly after 4 pm
Location: Assembly/departure point: 50 metres South-East of Millennium Bridge.
Another established ride that has had some very cute fully nude and painted female riders in the past.

THE MAIN WEEKEND (June 8th to June 10th) RIDES....

Southampton
Date: Friday 8 June 2012
Time: 6pm (ride will set off around 6.30pm)
Location: East side of Southampton Common at the clearing next to Highfield Road and opposite the junction with Omdurman Road.
This ride has always attracted members of the local student population and usually has 120 riders and heralds the BIG NAKED BIKE WEEKEND!

London (the biggie!)
Date: Saturday 9 June 2012
Time: 3pm assembly, for 3.30pm departure
Location: Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner (NOT in Hyde Park)
Normally 1200 riders and quite a few fully nude very cute ladies.

Cardiff, Wales
9th June 2012
Time: Gather at 2PM to get ready, paint yourself, decorate your bike etc. Setting off at 3PM
Location: Park Place, grassed area to rear of National Museum and adjacent to Cardiff University Main Building
Another ride that gets bigger each year and the only big one in Wales.

Brighton
Date: Sunday 10 June 2012
Time: 12 noon
Location: Preston Park (note change of start location), Preston Road, Brighton, BN1 6DT
Another huge ride (1000+ if sunny) and this year (with a chnge of start location) is planning it's own version of an all nude Triathelon!! Loads of time for photos as the ride stops twice and has a naked picnic at the start and skinny dip at the end. If you go to any ride, this is the one to go to!

Bristol
Date: Sunday 10 June 2012
Time: 1pm
Location: Full Moon Pub, North Road, Stokes Croft
This ride is becoming a good event too and has doubled in size over the past two years. If you live in the West Country, it's worth the travel!

So now you know where the BIG rides are, I will post details of any more as I come across them. Hopefully we can look forward to seeing some 2012 shots (and video) in just over eight days time!!

Not on my calendar it isn't! It's the Saturday before the long Jubilee Holiday weekend.

Here is a link to FB that already shows 330 confirmed riders...
