Chat room for OCC ?

Would it be more interesting to have right here a chatroom to get to talk to eachother?

I like the idea of an OCC chat room, I could invision it being a seperate part of the site away from the forum I would raeally enjoy a chat room.

something i'd look into if i were an owner/op of a site like this would be camfrog. you can buy a room/server and appoint ops and so forth. check into it and feel free to get back to me. camfrog is a video based chatroom service and i've been using it for over a year now.

I'd like to see an OCC chatroom too but unfortunately I think it would create more trouble than it would be worth.

Most chatrooms attract too many troublemakers and would give Alex and the mods more work.

i disagree. not trying to kick a dead horse, but if you do choose to run the room off camfrog, the room owner can select certain users as operators (mods). this ops as they are aptly called have the powers to ban members from the room, kick members from the room and punish members in the room. in fact alex wouldn't even have to be there majority of the time. his trusted ops can run the room.

There are very few chat sites I've been on that dont get more than their fair share of troublemakers.

i wouldn't say i proved your point, per say, but i do see what you are saying. let me try and make my point or idea more clear to you. your concern is that they will have trouble moderating the rooms....that it will become a headache. only if they allow it too. the ops in the room (for example he could make the ops the same people he has as mods here) have certain levels of control so that the room's owner doesn't have to deal with it. does it seem like a headache to right click someones name and ban them from the room...and that's just the extreme side of it. there are stipulations that alex can place on the room, be it a password to get access to the room or only allow members with web cams. i'm just saying that in it's most basic form...camfrog would be a great start to host a occ room. i mean hell they are set up already with an 18 + section.

and for clairfication, i mean no disrespect nor offense to anyone on here....just a simple texan explaining my opinion.

I feel it would be asking too much of Alex and the mods to sit in a chatroom and moderate conversation 24/7. With the forums a post can be deleted but with a chat site a conversation could get out of hand very quickly without a moderator being present. This could bring unwanted attention on the existing forums, eg a user asking to share underage material through messenger etc.

With the amount of content and members posting here Alex and the mods already do an excellent and difficult job and I feel asking them to do more would be too much for these guys who give up their own time for free.

Just a suggestion hoss but if you feel so strongly about a chatroom and as your already familiar with camfrog, why dont you open your own chatroom there and invite us over from OCC. You will find its a lot more work than you anticipated having to moderate it 24/7.

I'll just put in my 2 cents here. As the old-timers

on the board know, I used to be a fairly prolific poster, but decided after being offered the chance to moderate to give up that hat for the most part (running out of new porn to post kinda helped there too

). There are many, many great posters on the board, though, who are doing a great job and tracking down all sorts of good stuff and sharing it.

Moderating does take quite a bit of time but I know we are all happy to help Alex out whenever we can. While the idea of a discussion forum is interesting, I have to agree with Wetmac that it'd probably be more trouble than beneficial. Because OCC a picture/vid posting board, it is fairly easy to ensure that things do not drift too far off-topic or to remove offensive or inappropriate material. That would be much more difficult where the board is one based on discussion and I would think it would require a much larger time committment to ensure that things ran smoothly.

The idea of having an non-affiliated dicussion board to which OCC members can go though is intriguing, and perhaps that could be pursued independent of OCC (and be in no way affiliated with the board other than hosting dicussions about it) by someone who is willing to take up the challenge.

Hmmm, do my spidey senses detect a 'thread closed' coming . . . ?
