If it's anything like the book that it's based on, the plotline (with spoilers) is below:

The Devil decides that it's time to wreek some havoc among the citizens of Moscow, since most have become atheists or agnostic, and that means he gets to have fun. He poses as a "doctor/magician/performer", and holds an extremely popular stage show, along with his very unique entourage. (Korevyev is and will always be my favorite.) He performs many 'miracles' for the materialistic crowd, including throwing money, large amounts of it, to all of them, and giving away expensive clothes and hats.

After the performance, the money seems to just disappear, as well as the clothing. More happens in the book, but this is almost assuredly 'that scene'.

The book is a fantastic read, which was published only after the author's death, due to the fact that it criticized the government at a time when oppression was rampant.
