My story is similar, but different.

My ex cheated and left, 10 years ago. I quickly got into an abusive relationship, followed by 7 flings, then another abusive relationship.

Understand how you feel. Had sex with 4 women before my wife. My wife does not have any health issues but struggles with modesty. Always tolled sex is bad but does not believe it.
