I would like to share my experience from last Friday in my favorite sauna in Austria, since people are discussing men being aroused.

It is still quite warm here - not the best weather for visiting saunas - but the place was quite busy. Generally an older crowd but some younger visitors and a good male-female mix.

Could someone comment on gym saunas in Amsterdam? Places where people go for normal workouts - lifting, spin, yoga,etc I assume many of these have saunas? Are they mixed, nude? Any specific gyms with a younger mix of people?

Strangely this applies less to couples than men alone. For example, when I would visit London's Rios Spa alone, I knew it was wise not to be erect in the public areas. OTAH when my wife and I were there on Saturday couples even I was often erect with my wife as were other guys with their partners.

...they are meant to enable societies to function. A man running around with an erection will cause a lot of the women there to feel uncomfortable, and at worst think of ****. That's just a fact of life, and probably simply associated with the fact that women are on average weaker and less able to defend themselves. In contrast, a woman running around looking visibly aroused is not intimidating. So, if the idea is that the spa should be a place for relaxation, people need to feel safe, and then men must be prohibited from waving a boner around. Fair? Probably not. Necessary? Definately!!!

Not sure how true this is but it seems most Japanese keep their pubic hair.

I've not been to a nude sauna myself, but an ex-girlfriend went to one in Berlin (Vabali, I think) a couple of years back.

We had been travelling Europe together for a couple of months with three of her girlfriends. I had to get back for work, so I left her with her friends in Berlin to continue their travels. Literally the day after I got home, she messaged me to say she and her friends had been to the nude spa.

I was totally gutted. I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about other people seeing my girlfriend naked for starters (I was pretty protective over things like that back then)... but I was even more gutted that I didn't have the opportunity to join them and get to see her hot girlfriends naked!

It's been one of those opportunities I've always regretted... but c'est la vie.
